LadyLake
Well, Hitomi, after seeing the beautiful quilts you made for the contest out of Bali Pops, I took a closer look at these pre-cut batik packs at a local quilt show I attended last weekend. One vendor had a quilt made up with 1-1/2" off-white strips between each 2-1/2" batik strip. I really liked it, so bought the Tonga Treats/Sugarplum pack and made up the quilt this week. I had a wild week -- too hectic to focus on machine quilting, so this simple piecing project was perfect for helping to keep my nerves in tact. LadyLake
I liked the overlapping ovals design in the border fabric (bought separately from the Tonga pack), so I might try to quilt it using that design. Thank you, Hitomi, for the inspiration!

dlnewell
Joan, I really like that fern fabric you used for the center. Is it a Tonga batik also?
LadyLake
Hi Debbie, No, the fern fabric was from my stash, and so was the border, plus 2 or 3 of the outer strips. I don't see an identification on the fern fabric; I bought it about a year ago in a local quilt shop. I loved it and bought a lot, but it is hard to use with a large print, so it was nice to finally find a use for some of it.
