oireachtas
I am in the process of setting up my machine and have a question about the grounding wire. It is attached to the carriage but I'm not sure where I'm supposed to put the other end. I'm not seeing an obvious spot. Does it attach to the machine head somewhere? I'm not seeing a screw small enough for the hole. Thanks for any help you can give. Claire
Primitive1
I was not sure on that either...I ended up attaching the clip and grounding wire to the machine head and the other end to the bottom carriage. I am not sure I did it right but that was the best I could understand with the instructions.
RunningThreads
Claire On ours we attached the wire to the screw holding the power cable to the side of the machine near the right rear handle mount. The other end goes to the underside of the rear axle. We have an older millie. Nigel
DawnCavanaugh
Claire, Put the grounding wire on one of the cover screws on the sewing head, usually on the right side just by the handle as Nigel suggests.

witha'K'quilting
the grounding wire must be a new thing, huh? i have nothing like it on either of my machines. they are an '05 and '06. to my knowledge, i have no issues.
oireachtas
I'm not sure how new it is but I couldn't find anything about it in the manual. My machine is from 2009 so it might have been added after that. Angela said it was to prevent a static charge which I guess some people have had trouble with. I'm here in damp NC where we run dehumidifiers not humidifiers so it probably wouldn't be a problem for me, but want to be safe.
witha'K'quilting
thanks. i haven't had any issues that i am aware of. my machines are on slate rock floors and the temperature is fairly consistent. dry climate here, but not enough to cause static electricity i suppose. Katydids
the grounding wires were added in 2008 or 09, after the machines circuitry changed somewhat with the machine change in 08. I have not had issues here in humid FL either, but in some areas the static can be a real problem.
