rineps
Hi All, I will be going to San Francisco at the end of the month on business. Does anyone have a favorite local quilt shop that is worth visiting. I will have a little down time at the conference and would like to do some shopping - where better than a Quilt Shop!! Thanks All, Patrice
Bonnie H
Patrice, I just wanted to say LUCKY YOU!!!! I love San Francisco Sorry, I don't know of any shops for quilting there, not saying there aren't but we go for the SF Giants and atmosphere and food. Stagecl
I love the smell of the fog! I know that sounds funny. I grew up north of SF, but haven't lived there for over 30 years so I can't help you on LQS's. Have fun. Do take a sweater the mornings and evenings can be cold when the fog is in. seakitten
There really isn't anything that I know of in the City, but there are several nice ones across the Bay in the Berkeley area.
meg
If you can get out near Walnut Creek, my favorite was Wooden Gate in Danville. At least I think it was Danville. Not a huge shop, but my favorite. Thimble Creek was good, too. And bigger, if I remember right. I think that was in Concord. If you dont have a car, and want to go, check out public transportation in & out of SF. I think it's called the BART.
anniemueller
There used to be a lovely shop in Sunnyvale on Mary near El Camino. And there was a great knit shop in Los Altos, in the downtown shopping area. I've been away for over 10 years, so I don't know if they are still there. Like Szchewan food? My favorite restaurant was Szchewan Gardens on Castro in Mountain View. It's an easy walk from the light rail station.
RitaR
You Might check out a place down town, San Francisco. I think the name is BriTex, and the shop spans between two blocks. If I remember it has 4 floors,, it is narrow, but oh my, the fabrics, oodles and oodles of fabrics of so many kinds I don't remember half of them. It was so fun.. Plan plenty of time for it. I Hope it is still there. Rita
klwheeler
I'm in the SF bay area. Britex is nice but pricey. I like Stone Mountain and Daughter in Berkeley and Lacies for trims and lace. Come visit me if you get a chance. Karen Wheeler
