catsigler
Just received a call from APQS that my new Millennium is shipping today and might arrive as early as 2/13. DH leaves on the 12th and returns on the 23rd. Wondering if any of you have put it together yourself (without your DH's help). I suspect it's a two-person job. I might have to try anyway. That's a long time to look at boxes of a Millie in pieces!
TinaCollins
I put together Millies by myself on a regular basis... It's not too hard at all! Feel free to give me a ring if you run into any trouble.... Tina- tina@apqs.com or 573-576-3160
ramona-quilter
Congrats, Catsiger. I know that you are excited. Some of those parts are a bit combersome and heavy. I know that it would be too much for me. Read the manual and watch the DVD while you're waiting for DH's return. Then you will be ready to assist him to a speedy setup. You're going to love it. Guest Linda S
It can be done Cathey, but you will need something like a desk or sawhorse to hold up one end of the table while you put the frame on it. I would never be able to wait either! Linda
Katydids
Cathey, I was in the same boat as you. Husband out of town and I couldn't wait!!!! I set mine up by myself, it can be done if you are determined. You will need a sturdy stool or some other support when getting the legs on the table, or if you could borrow a friend for that part. The rest should not be a problem. Just read the manual first and it will make sense as you put the parts together. Congratulations! Patty
Mary Beth
Congrats Cathey...Can't tell you if you can set up on your own - everyone is different...but I can tell you that you will have fun once it's up and running!!
lovetwoquilt
Hi Cathey, I just put my Millie together this past weekend. The kids (15 & 10) helped me when I needed holding. The manual is great. I just read it and reread it during the week before. also watch the maintenance part of the dvd you get and it's very helpful too. Have fun! catsigler
Thanks to everyone for your replies. I'm encouraged after reading today's posts. I'm fairly mechanically adept, and if I can press my neighbor -- a single woman who rides a motorcycle <g> into service, I think it's doable. Electrician is coming tomorrow to see about installing overhead fluorescent lighting. Wondering if I need anything else while he's here...
QuiltFaerie
Yup, it can be done. However, I got it together after three broken nails and I think the air in the basement is still blue from all my swearing. :D I had to go find a neighbor to get the machine lifted up and onto the tracks. There is a limit what I can do. Gail
catsigler
Hah! without the blue words, very little would get done around my house (by me), including quilts! Nails won't be a problem because I can't grow any!
