Courthouse Steps Quilt won First Place Blue Ribbon!

Recommended Posts

I quilted a top for a wonderful lady who taught me how to piece way back when and it won a blue ribbon at the Kentucky Quilter's Day Out show this past weekend! She is still floating on air. :)

I did a blog post on how I auditioned designs for this custom quilt to determine what to put where. You can find that here

You can find more photos of the end result over on my blog here. I'm so happy for her!

This quilt was a mixture of freehand and computer. I woud say about 50/50. I used a double batt of Hobbs cotton and Hobbs wool to give it some lift. All of the curved crosshatching was done by hand. The block motifs in the central courthouse steps blocks were all ones I designed and digitized myself. Enjoy!
