Heirloom Quilter
Past week I made a charity quilt to be auctioned for a benefit to help a friend suffering with cancer. He has been unable to work and because of all the medical bills they were going to lose their home. The dinner and auction was last night in my hometown in California and the quilt went to the high bidder for $450. I am amazed. My mama was on the benefit committee and said that people just kept bidding and bidding. I am so happy that my friends will benefit from my humble contribution. Here are a few pictures of the quilt. It was actually some fabric I had purchased to practice my long arm quilting on a few years back and I never got around to doing anything with it. I liked the fabric so much I decided not to cut it up, but to leave it whole like a panel. I added a few borders then quilted it using Vickie's CL Egyptian Eye boards. Because I loaded the quilt sideways it ended up looking like the quilting was a wood grain pattern. Thank you Vickie for sharing with me. ffq-lar
That looks great! I agree that the vertical design looks like wood grain. Wonderful for those lodge-y quilts. Congrats on the donation amount.

Beachside Quilter
Wonderful work on this quilt, Debbie! I know the short timeframe you had to make, quilt, and ship to CA in time for the auction. The fabrics are wonderful and the Egyptian Eye is perfect for it. Congratulations on the great $$ auction result!
