Bonnie in Ok
What would make a magna-glide bobbin sounds like it is spinning in the case. It recently started this. When it does this it causes the bobbin thread to break. I changed the case but doesn't make a difference. Doesn't do this all the time but enough to be aggravating. I did remove the spring from the case so that is not a cause.
chickenscratch
Mine is doing the same thing this week. I'd love to know how to fix the problem. I thought I might need to order a new assembly and install it.
JBQuilts
If both of you are using the same thread/bobbin, I'd look there first.

sewingpup
newbie here to magnaglides.....but is there a way you can test the strength of the magnetic core with an older bobbin that you know worked fine (or one from the same box?).....maybe the magnetic part lost it's magnetic forces! Just my thought if the bobbin is spinning freely....Lin
Gator
Strange, give one of the guys a Fil-tech a call. If you're both using the same batch of bobbins there may be a problem with the lot.
jimerickson
It sounds like the magnet isn't holding the bobbin securely enough. Uncontrolled bobbin spin will cause the thread to break. Maybe the magnets are defective. Jim
srichardson
I had the same problem on the last quilt that I did. I was using a light beige colour. It was one of the Classic bobbins. Weird!
Bonnie in Ok
I was wondering if the magnet was the reason I was getting the spinning. Glad to hear others are having issues.
