victoriasews
I have heard of people quilting the clam shells, then adding more quilting to fancy it up. Has anyone done this and if so, would you post a picture?
chickenscratch
I haven\'t done it, but it would seem like you could add some little design inside the shells, or maybe put lines or rays in them, or something. It\'s a neat idea.
Sylvia
i have used the clamshells on a couple of quilts and added a \'swaying reed\' design I drew. From the right hand corner where the top clamshell meets the top curve of the bottom one, draw three curved lines with \'cattails\' on the end of each. Sorry I do not have the quilts anymore. Anyhow, try doodling some of theses babies because they are easy to freehand once practiced. Good luck. Sylvia
Myrna Ficken
here is a link to one I did. http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/1530237424034244157CrHwZs Myrna

victoriasews
Myrna, I really love the ginkgo leaves in the clams. That really spices them up. Thank you for the great idea.

Judi
I saw Marilyn Badger do something on a Fons and Porter episode. She put in each clam 3 little spikes, hard to describe. Really increased the oriental feel to the quilting, maybe she has a photo someplace on a website. I do like the other photos ideas too, will have to remember those as well! kennan100
Ok, the garlic sauce comment has forced me to stop lurking and login! That is just too funny! I really like the sample from Myrna, and I saw the episode of Fons & Porter that Marilyn demoed, too! Now the garlic sauce has me going in a whole different direction!
