chatty94
Has anyone used the bobbin washers? Why? And if so, do you take the blue spring out? Or put the washer in between it and the wall of the bobbin case?
Nettie
I have used the bobbin genies for about a year now and love them! You take the back lash spring out completely. My tension is wonderful! Janette
Gator
I don't use the "washers" but others on here have raved about them. I use the magna-quilt bobbins from fil-tech. You take the spring out and just use the bobbin.
Ferret
My machine goes through phases when it really likes the washer as well as the spring. At the moment it's on a spring only thing, but I am using prewounds which may make the difference. Ferret
Quilting Heidi
I've used them but really didn't find a huge difference. I find that if I just adjust the spring so that it places more tension on the bobbin I get the same results.
laurashogren
I also have tryed the washers, Millie didn't think much of them, I ajust my bobbin spring so it is a little tighter and my tension is good, I also have a bobbin casing for each kind of thread. saves ajusting your tenion as much Laura

Sparkle
I have a Prodigy Quilter. Sharon Schamber endorses using the Bobbin Genies. A package of the Bobbin Genies came with the machine, so I have used them. My older APQS Ultimate II was never impressed with them, but since the Prodigy Quilter bobbin case has no metal back lash spring I've been using them. They are O.K.... I found my local sewing machine dealer had Metal back lash springs that would fit the size L Prodigy Quilter bobbin case, and that's what I'm using now. I prefer the metal back lash spring for several reasons...First of all I'm no longer dependent on the Bobbin Genies, (I'm on my second package) because they are always getting dropped down under the frame or even rolled up into the quilt if I don't find a good spot to change bobbins near the bobbin winder. My little dog likes to carry them off if they drop on the floor too. Or I end up vacuuming them up! They are probably a good idea, but I'm just tired of dealing with those round discs! Give me a good old fashioned metal back lash spring any day! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
jmcclannan
I use them when I have problems with bobbin tension but otherwise I don't think they are necessary.
