Katydids
This one had me stumped for weeks! The poor thing, I kept putting it farther back in the line-up. I had no clue what to do with it. It is one of those customers that says "do whatever you want" although she did say she wanted a block and border design rather than an overall. If only I could have waited til Myrna comes in September! Patty
Katydids
Heres the back. It got a little washed out, but it shows the detail.

ckirk
Beautiful quilting!!! Is the border freehand or a panto? If it's a panto, would you share the designer's name? I really like it. Cathy in NC Quilting Cowgirl Millennium
Katydids
Hi Myrna & Cathy, Thank you for your comments! Yes, Cathy, that is a panto in the border. I wish I could do that freehand I did put a little freehand in the blank spaces as the panto kind of zig zags across the space. It is Jodi Beamish's "Whirlygig". Myrna Ficken
I thought you did it freehand. If you are not by September you will be then:P We only have a few class spots left. Myrna
Judi
Patty - Great job! I love it! Very nice - your customer will be so happy! Did you draw-up that flower in your blocks yourself? It looks similar to the panto design. Or did it come with it? Thanks for sharing the photo - keep 'em coming!
Katydids
That's the plan Myrna! After September, I'll be freehand crazy! Has there been any change since the last class update? Judi - I drew out the block design based on the panto. It is not included with the panto. Patty

Rita
Here's the deal -I'm working on a batik quilt top (100% cotton backing...not batik)...the tension looks fine on the side...hit the quilt top it looks bad...really tight...any suggestions that don't include a match? The Crafty Unicorn
Rita, I just got done with my first Batik quilt aka "the quilt from H***" It was batik top and bottom and cotton batting...I sewed, I checked, I FROGGED the whole first width of the quilt. The secret turned out to be more slack in the top. I had the top too tight between the rollers. That and making sure I kept my stitches small (I don't have a SR). I was about to return the quilt but this forum saved the day again!!! By the way, when you need to close the holes from frogging... spritz with a little water and use the plastic brush end of a chalk pencil like an eraser. I also threw the whole thing in the dryer with a wet towel on fluff. Good luck, and remeber... mrsbishwit
Patty you did a great job of cordinating the block design with the panto it looks as though the ywo could have been sold together as a cordinating set I also like what you did in the sashing areas...very unique! TishMarshall
Patty, did you start and stop for each block? And did you use a straight ruler for the sides of each block? I'm new to this and am trying to become better aquainted with how things are done. Beautiful quilting!! Thanks Tish:D
Katydids
Thank you all for your kind comments! Tish, yes I had to start and stop for each block and I do use a ruler for the SID on the sides of each block and the diagonal stitching in the sashing.
