Simple lasagna quilt

Recommended Posts

I quilted this little lasagna quilt for a friend who plans to use

it as a baby gift.

She brought me the Sunflower panto by Dave Hudson 2003.

The panto is open and simple. It even has arrows for those

of us who are directionally challenged....

I used Deb Geisler Dancing leaves border for the outside

border. I left the inside border empty because I thought

that the multiple fabrics made it busy enough.

I used Superior thread - Highlights beige thread on top. It

was my first time using High sheen trilobal Polyester. Once I

got the tension figured out, it was smooth. I used superbobs

natural white on the back and it just melted in 'like butter'.:D

My friend was very happy with it.

Hi Linda,

Great quilt. I wondered what those quilts were called .

Don't you like the prewound bobbins?

How is the air down there. We have so much smoke in the air it's hard to go out. Not to mention it cuts out my internet and email. I know they have a few fires going there, any near you?

Are you planning on going to the quilt show ther in September? It is alway a nice show. Or entering anything?

Keep up the good work.

Thank you for the kind words. My confidence grows with

each one I finish. And I am still having a blast.

Myrna, the fires are north of us near San Bernadino. I feel

their pain. The cedar fire a couple years ago started 3 miles

from my house. It was enormous and deadly. Even after we

were allowed back in our homes, the smoke and soot rained

down for weeks. Stay inside with the air on, change your

filters and pray for those folks in the fire zone.

I do plan on attending the SDQS this year. I've never

been. :o No aspirations of entering a quilt though. Need a

bit more practice. I am going to Innovations in September,

too. I am taking 7 classes. I'm excited about that. Will you

or any of the APQS guys be here for the show? You know

how fabulous San Diego is in September. My guest

room is available if you want to make the trip down.

I would love to come , and may take you up on that at some point. However, my September is pretty full. The end of September I will be in Fl for a week teaching.

Yes, we will have a booth at Innovation, I think Cheryl Uribe, Sherry Rogers, maybe Mark or Sue Patton ?? Some new teachers will be there this year. Cheryl is teaching an Orange Peel that class sounds very interesting. Sue Patton will be teaching. Can't think of the others at the moment. You will have a good time. It is a great place to hold a show. Lots of things close by and a pretty area.

What a cute, funny name for this quilt....and quite appropriate!! You did a fine job Linda, choosing the patterns and thread for it. Your quilting looks great.....I bet the sheen on the thread you chose looks soft and pretty on the quilt. I have that sunflower pattern, but have never used it.....now I'm going to be looking for a quilt to put it on! Thanks for sharing.:D

SandraC - The fabric she used is called April Cornell. It has

a very nice hand. And the colors are so muted.

Myrna - I'm taking a Sue Patten class and a Dawn Cavanaugh

class. I signed up for 7 classes in all. There were so many

to choose from it was hard to decide. I am going to get so

smart :D.

Check out the class catalog, ladies. Hope to see some APQS faces in at MQInnovations.

Beautiful quilt Linda! Thanks for sharing.

I really need to take the time to make some simply pieced quilts. Our very own Angela Anderson(Davey), is the creator of "All Washed Up" quilt patterns. Very beautiful, simple designs. I should break out one of her wonderful patterns to try! Thanks for the inspiration Linda!

I would like to join the Dawn Cavanaugh Fan Club!!! Sign me up!

I will be at Innovations, AND, I will be looking for all of you. I am taking Cherly, Orange Peel and I have been selected to be teachers helper to Mark's maintenance class!

Any newbies going to show quilts? I am. Please don't laugh at mine!!! Wouldn't it be fun to meet and "constructive critique" our quilts?

Challenging all "1 yearers" to enter quilts!!!

Hey Teresa and Tinkerbell,

I an also a newbie and I'm taking the plunge with 2 quilts in the show. I'm hoping to have them done by the end of next week and get my quilt entry form mailed off to them. The deadline for the entry form is August 21st.

There are several others on this board also going to Innovations. We should try to get together sometime at the show.

I'm always looking for ways to improve and it would be great to get some constructive criticism from others. I'm also looking forward to teacher comments on my quilts.

Rita,

I love your quilt and that panto is one I would love to try. You give me lots of hope that someday I will be able to moto across a top also.

ARe you going to be at Innovations all four days? I am hoping to make it for at least two days. Are you entering a quilt?

I echo Debbie, all of us newbies should try to get together for dinner or something.:)

Hopeful in Oregon
