luv2kwilt
Hey guys, This quilt is for a guy who's wife was a quilter and she made this star, but never finished it. She left a LOT of fabric for our guild to use for our generosity projects and so we are trying to finish this piece for him. Anyway,...it is a very large star that has been appliqued onto a solid. The corner square areas measure about 30" blocks, so they are super HUGE!!! Any suggestions? Thanks! Luv2kwilt APQS MILLENNIUM

Calicoquilter
Wow, it is beautiful. I was thinking maybe some feathered wreaths in the four corner blocks and SID on the star. I'm not sure about the four "triangle areas, though.

mrsbishwit
CC in the diamonds or you can do some line dancing with a swirl in them. Since the background area is such a large amount of open space you will need to break it down into sections and "create" spaces. Myrna has a DVD that explains how to do this if you need help. Good luck.

Quilting Heidi
I would feather that background. If you don't want to get to fussy you could just do a feather meander. It will be beautiful. I love lone stars.

luv2kwilt
Thanks everyone for the helpful advice. I have never tried these meandering feathers. Here are a few pictures--they aren't that great, but it gives you an idea of what I did. Thanks for all the help! Monica Gum

Neher-in-law5
Very good. I like the cc in the star pieces and the meandering feathers are great. That quilting really makes that star a quilt to enjoy. So where do you learn how to do the meandering feathers, to get the nice large movement, knowing the better spacing between the spines so you have room for feathers? quiltmonkey
Hey I really like the star you put in the corners. Great job with those meandering feathers, too! It give the quilt a lot of dimension and movement.
