Mirabelle
Help !! I have almost finished this Indian Hatchet quilt, (borders still to go on) and have no idea how to quilt it. Do I treat each 16 inch block seperately, I don't really want to do an E2E. I invisage "something" weaving its way around the quilt but I'm not sure about feathers. The background fabric is Kona black and the feature fabric is scrap Japanese, the photo really doesn't do it justice.

sewlinzi
Lovely quilt! Some sort of basket weave would be clever but lots of marking, stops, starts... If you have cl or qz you could do overlapping circles, poss with an inner one quarter of an inch smaller and you would get the wine glass, pumkin seed effect... It could look a bit sashiko or like a series of dreamcatchers
Quilting Heidi
Karen, That is a pretty quilt. You could do a woodgrain look on that if you wanted to make it look like a trellis. I think feathers would be beautiful on the black and it would add a lot of beautiful texture. Linzi has some good ideas as well.
Neher-in-law5
I have done alternating half hearts in sashing/trellis designs like that one. Mine were narrower, but it does give a good look both on the front and the back. I don't quilt tightly/heavily on my quilts.
Kueser
I saw freehand vines running up the trellis.
ffq-lar
Easy. Continuous. Compatible with Asian feel. Beautiful with black thread. Looks cool from the back!
PattyJo
Linda R - you are always one jump ahead of me. That is exactly what I was going to suggest. Karen, Love the quilt and this design that Linda posted would really be cool....IMHO:)
