SandraG
It is machine maintenance time! Four times a year (with the season change) I check and service my machine and table. Check all of the nuts and bolts on the table and carriage, make sure everything is still level, check the brushes, oil the rocker, grease the gearbox (only if noisy), check the hook to make sure it is tight, and all other regular maintenance. Once it's all done, I give her a big hug!!! Sandra
Quilting Heidi
Well girlfriend I should have had you hug my machine while you were here! LOL
Primitive1
I need to learn to do all of these things too....
JustSewSimple
I can't remember where the brushes are. Got to get out my manual.... I am on pain meds so I probably should wait until I can actually see and hear and understand what I am doing. I could still hug her without causeing a problem. Perhaps I will stumble in there and do that!

I know my table or carriage is a bit off cuz I feel a slight "not right" tugging sensation when moving it front to back. So... will readjust the wheels and will go through and make sure all the nuts and bolts are tight. Always a good thing to do. And that rocker-- always forget to oil that thing so will make sure this is a regular habit. Thanks for the reminders!
SandraG
Shauna, I was having a little jitteriness on one part of the table. It was my H. lift. The back left leg was out of synch somehow. I reset it and now its fine. Just another thing to check if you have a lift. S

Busy Quilting
Yes .......Please explain ...... What is "the rocker" Lyn
SandraG
When you take the side plate off, there is a rocker assembly at the bottom left. You can actually move the mechanism with your hand and rock it back and forth. You can hold it up and apply a drop of oil.
Primitive1
Ohh, good to know, I've never done this and it does seem to be making a little funny noise...
KathyA
I do a full maintenance every January, with other spot maintenance checks throughout the year. Keep up with general maintenance throughout the year. Thanks for the reminder - should put this on my calendar now.
ffq-lar
What a great idea to do the check-ups as the seasons change! I will try to make this a tradition. Did the over-all check tonight--found some thread around the flywheel, some flaky oxidation on my new M&Ms which cleaned off easily, checked all connectors, and through all this managed to disconnect the cable that connects my horizontal channel lock. But now I know what to look for to fix that! Thanks Sandra! Yes, I gave my girl a nice pat and thanked her for all her hard work!
