Anniquilter
I'm back from England, getting back into the swing of quilting and here is my next project. A small twin for a college freshman made by his GM. It consists of up to 400 weight fleece with fleece applique and 400 weight fleece backing & no batting (thank heavens). The Customer wants custom with nothing over the applique and I am definitely going to have to avoid stitching over where 4 blocks come together. Any suggestions as to how I should quilt this? I can't quite remember why I said I would do this quilt at all except that, before I left for England I was afraid I wouldn't have enough work this fall
quiltmonkey
YIKES! :o:o Do the V-8 smack on the forehead!! You might want to "renegotiate" your original commitment to longarm quilt this thing. I think it might be better tied with yarn. Seriously!!! But if you want to attempt to quilt it, I would just do a simple meander around areas to carefully avoid the thick areas.
Antoinette
I just did a minkee with fleece backing and poly request from Quilters Dream batting. My one suggestion is raise the hopping foot. Sorry I don't have any ideas about what to quilt
sspingler
I did one similar to this but different shapes. I meandered feathers (you could do ferns or something else since it's for a boy) around all the shapes. Turned out pretty good. I did move my foot up a little too and use a strong thread. Quilting Heidi
Yikes is right! Is it boy or girl? If boy I would stick with something geometric. Girl do funky feathers and avoid those seams!
ffq-lar
I am sending my condolences.......
Primitive1
My first thought also is just a wandering large meander between those forms missing of course those places where the seams come together....
Lyn Heilman
I can see why you are hesitant! Yikes is right. I would keep it simple so you can easily avoid the applique and mountain seams:D
April W
Could you echo the shapes once inside and once on the outside of the shapes to where it crosses over the seams but hopefully not the intersections? After enlarging the picture so I could see I noticed she has done different things in some of them. What exactly did she expect YOU to do with this? njquiltergirl
Anne, This may not be able to be able to be quilted on a la. Good luck, my friend. Maybe a Guiness would help!! I'd be tempted to sid and outline the shapes and be done, if it is as bad as all those fleece layers look. Good luck!
