Shar Schmutz
Hi all you totally creative gals and guys! I made this quilt top last summer thinking I had plenty of time to get it quilted before the holidays... well I pulled it out to load and now have a total blank for quilting it. The blocks are 8 1/2 inches and the the small borders are only 1" each, the side borders are 2" and the outside border is 6 inches. Suggestions greatly appreciated!! Quilting Heidi
Here is what I would do in the block. It should go pretty quick. I'd just SID the sashing. In the smaller off white border I'd do a simple feather and in the outside do beadboarding.
CindyT
Very pretty quilt, Shar. I'm having "moments" today trying to come up with quilting ideas, so I'm not much help. I see CC's in the 9 patches and feathers in the triangles. I know the pro's and up and coming pro's will chime in and give you some great ideas! CindyT
Too funny...I must type slow, too, as Heidi already chimed in.

LOL Must just mean those blocks are screaming for cc's and feathers .
Shar Schmutz
Thanks Cindy and Heidi! Basically all I could think of was what you drew out Heidi, but I thought there must be more to it! I didn't think of the SID in the small borders, I was thinking of treating them as one, but again was coming up blank as to what to do with them. I didn't think of the breadboard in the outer border but really like that idea too. I'll wait to see if anyone else has any other ideas, you know I just hate SID! I will admit I am getting better with it though, I keep hearing Heidi lecturing PPP and it will come!!! Many thanks Ladies!!!
Shar Schmutz
Heidi, I was going to use wool batt with a flannel backing, will the small cc's work with that combo?

doodlebug
this is my favorite go-to design for 'rail fence' sashings. one pass and it creates a 'zig zag' in the center.
Shar Schmutz
Thanks Shannon! Would you still SID?
kathyb
I would do the CCs in the center and in the corners squares, but if you want to do something more simple than feathers you could try a design of Pam Clark's, designs with lines. Like the CC with a 'hook' in the middle, for those triangles in each of the corner blocks.
Beachside Quilter
This is such a lovely, simple quilt, Shar. I love Heidi's ideas and Shannon's too. It will look great when you finish!
quietlifeaz
Another less intimidating option for the corners is a “stacked feather” (pam clark and other have versions of it)
