SonjaHammond
I finally resized two pictures of the Friendship quilt my retreat group made for the lady who cooks for our retreat each year. The squares were made by the retreat attendees and then I quilted the top. I was going to use a large Terry Twist in the white squares but it just didn't have the look I wanted. So I did feathered wreaths. Next time I will count the number of wreaths needed before I start. This quilt had 35 wreaths when finished. I did not get a picture of the back to my regret. This is my first heavy custom quilt. I hope I can get the picture into the post.

Sandra Darlington
Your quilting is beautiful. I just love those feathers. How large are the blocks? 6" square? I'm trying to figure out the size of your 35 (wow!) feather wreaths. I'm sure the recipient will adore this quilt, I know I would.

kennan100
I ditto Jean. Just love scrap quilts, and the wreaths are great, you really did a good job!
tsurich
Sonja, Beautiful, I'd say you have command of custom work. I really liked the TerryTwist in the light areas of the nine-patch, doesn't take away from the lines in the dark and doesn't really add another texture as stipple would. I'm making a note of that. pfrost
Very nice, Sonja. The quilting is beautiful & all the work put into the feathered wreaths was well worth it. It added a lot to the look of the quilt. The recipient will enjoy it. Pat AZ:cool: (but it was cold last night! Mille
ramona-quilter
Beautiful job. 35 wreaths, wow that took some time. I love the combo of the wreath with the diagonals thru the scrappy 9-patch. I'm sure she will love it. Who wouldn't?
smd719
Hi. The quilt is beautiful! I'm a newbie...could you please explain how you did the diagonals? I would appreciate it. Thanks.
SonjaHammond
Thanks to all for your kind words. To answer the questions: Reason for counting the wreaths: I don't know if I would have attempted the wreaths if I had known how many there were. The block size is 9 inch finished. I didn't have a circle template that was the right size so I used lids to cooking pans. The diagonals were done with the Hartley ruler (longest one). The handle on this ruler really helped to keep the lines straight. Thanks again to all for viewing!
Judi
Very nice Sonja - you did a great job!! I have been taking photos too, some fronts, backs and close-ups....... just need the time to print them all out and organize a photo album. A friend of mine, her daughter made her a super nice scrapbook album of most of the quilts she has made. Some pages even have scraps of the fabrics on - which is such a great idea - maybe put a bit bigger piece incase a repair has to be made later.
