DebLou Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Have any of you heard of Thread Art? If so, how does it compare to other threads? Thanks, DebLou
sewhappy Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I thought Thread Art was more of a technique rather than a thread type but I could be wrong.
DebLou Posted January 29, 2007 Author Report Posted January 29, 2007 If you go to www.threadart.com they have embroidery and quilting supplies. I was wondering if their thread quality was okay.
Mary Beth Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I have visited their site, but I've never ordered from them. I always just order from King's Men Quilting Supplies. Their prices are usually better than anyone else. I've never ordered from Superior, but there are some that do and like them very much.
Stagecl Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I love "So Fine" from Superior and Bottom Line in the bobins. If you have a business license or a tax id number you can order at wholesale prices which are less than on the website. They list only retail on the web, but if you call and order they will set up an account that will bring up the whole sale price on their website for you. Patch Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I just learned in my mach. quilt. class yesterday that thread that says it's "long staple" is good thread that doesn't give off a lot of lint.
Guest Linda S Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 You might order a small amount and see if you like it. The wonderful thing about APQS machines is that they can handle just about any kind of thread. I use mostly Superior Threads -- they have a great selection, wonderful colors, Bob provides great education about all things thread, their prices are great, and they have a guarantee! I also use some embroidery thread from Melco Mart -- it's a shinier 40 wt poly but it runs great in my machine. Linda
Jhend Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 The poly thread from Thread Art is actually ARC thread that is produced for them under their name. I know this because the ARC person at MelcoMart sent me to their website to see their color chart. Melco Mart is having a huge sale on ARC poly. $3.45 on 5000 meter cones. Wonderful color choices. I have used it and it is wonderful and works great on my Millie. I heard of ARC from someone else on this site, but can't remember who.
Bonnie Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I use the ARC Poly for both quilting and machine embroidery...the colors are great and they have every color you could possibly want...I think at last count over 500...including metallics, and neons. The great brag that Melco uses for their embroidery threads is that they will not fade with time or by the sun.
Guest Linda S Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 Yes - the sale is great! I scooped up 24 cones of beautifully colored Arc last week. Linda
victoriasews Posted January 29, 2007 Report Posted January 29, 2007 I have used ThreadArt on my machine embroidery machine and it works very well - I bought it on ebay. I have never used it on the long-arm, though. I used to use Signature on the long-arm until I tried Superior (They had a special at a show ) and I've never looked back. Superior is not only fine thread but the customer service can't be beat.
DebLou Posted January 30, 2007 Author Report Posted January 30, 2007 Thank you so much everyone for your quick responses. I think we will take your advice Linda and order a small amount at first. I love this site because you are all so helpful and I learn a lot from everyone. Deblou
annlittle1 Posted January 30, 2007 Report Posted January 30, 2007 I bought three cones of it just to give it a try. I love it. It has a slight sheen to it and handles just like Bottomline. Phyllis Hughes
Judi Posted January 31, 2007 Report Posted January 31, 2007 O.k. so - this ARC is ordered from Melco Mart? I have never tried it, but am interested...... is there a website for this thread? I found the website - thanks!! I will have to try this thread.
