ffq-lar
If your machine doesn't have a switch for the lights and your lighting is a tube, remove the fluorescent tube by rolling it out of the fixture and set it aside. If it's the same as mine, it's very easy to remove and replace.
chickenscratch
Mine doesnt' have a tube. It has little square sets of lights, one on either side of the needle bar.. I can't find a light switch anywhere.
HeidiP
Teresa, not sure if ours are the same but I have a little silver 1/4" long lever in the center of the lights.. It's on the back side of the head, right n the middle.
delld
My machine, a Millie, year 2008, has the tiny switch like Heidi 's.
chickenscratch
Thanks. I will look for that
chickenscratch
There is no little switch anywhere on my lights. Tracey Russell sent me a picture of a little toggle switch on hers, but I don't have that eihter. Maybe the lights are just supposed to stay on when ever the machine is turned on. Here is a picture I took using a mirror
chickenscratch
Thanks to Matt Sparrow of Sparrow Studioz for clearing up my light problem. The light switch is only available on the higher end machines, not the Lenni.
Gator
What year/model is your machine? You should have the little toggle switch in the back center to change from white to black light and off? The switch is tiny. Your machine should be like ours unless someone other than APQS installed the LEDs?
chickenscratch
It is a 2008 Lenni. I've been told Lenni models don't have lights that can be turned off
RunningThreads
I guess you could cover them with masking tape. Since they are LEDs heat shouldn't be an issue. Nigel
chickenscratch
That's the thought I had Nigel, but we are going to try black electrical tape because it is less sticky.
GMALKB
Could you put a piece of black batting over the lights and tape in place? You could remove it easier than any tape.
chickenscratch
Linda B, tried that, but with a piece of black fabric. Thread kept getting caught on it, because the thread runs along the edge of the light to get ot hte bottom thread guide above the needle. I've quit for tonight. I'm piecing instead. Laura Farnham
I used to just disconnect the Light. then reconnect when I needed it,....
chickenscratch
Laura, where is the connector. The only thing we can see are some wires up inside of the light (between the light and the machine). Those can't be disconnected
Laura Farnham
I had a 2010,... there was a screw that held the led plate up,... then it would slide out,... Not sure if your model is the same,... Contact APQS to see,... they would know if you can turn yours off/ disconnect,...
WW Quilter
Teresa, Just last week I had to disconnect and remove my light to get to a screw underneath it for a repair to my Lenni. On the left side, in the back corner of the LED lights, there is a tiny screw. If you remove that, you can then slide the lights back (toward the back of the machine). When you do that, you can see the wires and connection. There is a little tab you push and that disconnects the wire. (Kind of like unplugging your telephone.) You can even remove the lights until you need them again. Hope this helps. I did get instructions with pictures from Amy, if you want me to try to post here or email to you. Let me know! ffq-lar
Hi Teresa. Send me the dimensions of the LED unit including the depth and Dennis can make you a sheetmetal cover for it. Also send a photo of the light and he can make tabs so you can tape it on when needed and easily remove it. email is lindarech@comcast.net
