rebecca Baergen
I had a needle break and replaced the needle. Now the machine works but no stitches, I checked the needle position and the bobbin but have no idea what to do now. Any suggestions
jimerickson
Check and see if you have the needle inserted properly. It sounds like you might have it in backwards. Good luck. Jim
rebecca Baergen
I thought maybe that was the case. The bend goes forward and the scooped out part goes in the back - that is my understanding and that is the way I put it in. Maybe the needles are different in some way. Perhaps I will try turning it around. Would it also not sew if it wasn't perfectly straight? Thanks
Kueser
The groove running down the needle goes in front and the scarf goes in the back. You may not have it pushed up all the way up. If you put it in backwards, you will hear a horrible clatter.
rebecca Baergen
I double checked - not in backwards and it doesn't make any abnormal sounds. There is thread looped underneath so now i am thinking it is a tension problem. The thread is the top thread color. Thanks for the suggestion though. Gail O
Did you break the needle because you hit a ruler? If so, you might have inadvertently adjusted the needle bar height. Take the bobbin case out, manually move the needle to it's lowest position and check if you can see just the eye of the needle and a tiny bit of silver above the eye, in the bobbin area. If your needle is not the correct height you will not get stitches. I think there is a video on the APQS site on how to adjust the needle height. It's also covered in the manual. Good luck. rebecca Baergen
No, just got stuck in the fabric,. I will try and check it as you say. I assume you mean that you can see the eye and a bit of silver by looking underneath from the bobbin side. Thanks.!
RunningThreads
Here is the timing video. The needle position Gail wants you to check is at about 30 minutes. https://www.apqs.com/timing-apqs-machine-video/ Nigel
