TheNiftyStitcher
Does anyone have any pictures or ideas for redworks quilts? I did a search but came up with nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, don\'t have a picture yet. Thanks, Jessie
Mary Beth
Is it just embroidery? You can do just about whatevery you want with that. I have stitched over it using thread to match the background or I\'ve outlined and echoed. If it\'s blocks and you want to outline, then just put something that goes with the theme of the quilt in the borders.
Sheri Butler
I also have used thread matching the background fabric. You can also just meander around, and ontop of the redwork. It doens\'t alter the redwork at all. Also, if you don\'t feel comfortable using colored thread, you can try mono-poly thread by Superior. Cross-hatching is another nice looking method. lyonden
I did a redwork quilt for myself and used my CL crosshatch template to do it. Take a look here: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1438390524061656185UbSzCj
ffq-lar
...when you are directed to a website (thank you Carol!!) and you find such fabulous work that you spend an hour cruising around and getting inspired? Love the crosshatching, BTW!
countrystitcher
Thank you Carol for the inspiration. I have 5 quilts to do each with 6 embroided blocks, I really like the cross-hatching. Very well done. Sharon

jajab
Carol what fabulous pictures you have on your web shots. You are a amazing quilter. Spent to much time cruising your site. Unfortunately not enough time for the dishes to do themselves. Good luck Jessie with your quilt hope that Carol inspired you. I know she inspired me. Kathleen
I agree with the others, crosshatching would be awesome in a thread that disappears into the background fabric. Either matching thread or the mono-poly, but since I am leary of the mono-poly I would go with the matching thread.... Ok, I too love Carol\'s crosshatching!! I know this is a sidebar, but can I do the same thing with the Hartley Fence that you did with the Circle Lord? I have never even attached it to Ethel and used it. I do have a custom "Wild Irish Rose" quilt to do and I think crosshatching would look amazing on it, I just figured I\'d use my handy dandy ruler for it. But if the fence would make it less time consuming... Whattaya think?
lyonden
Kathy - I also have the Heartly Fence but never use it. I tried it when I first got it but things just kept moving on me and the quilting was awful. Some swear by it. Give it a try.
