Bonnie
She is having trouble posting pictures and asks for your advise for the pansy picture...the following is what she wrote to me in a email: I need to post the pansy pictures on the forum with a what do I do. I was going to cross hatch it but the more I look at it the more I am not sure. It is a church raffle quilt and all the pansies are hand turned appliqued and it is truly beautiful and want to do it justice. [/img]
Primitive1
Beautiful quilts Bonnie, You did a great job quilting the blue one! I think I would still crosshatch each background but then do something else in the borders, like maybe a meadering leaf vine or something? Quilting Heidi
Beautiful work Bekah. All the hours put in that quilt are hours well invested! Way to go. On the pansy quilt I think cross hatching would really set those off. I would of course SID each pansy too. In the border you could do DeLoa's feather border. It goes so quick and really looks great small or big. I just did it on the applique quilt I posted today.
BethDurand
I'm with the other responses. Fabulous job on the blue and white quilt, and a great investment of time. I know what you mean about being SO ready to have it gone! I too vote for crosshatching in the background of the pansies, and then SID around each flower. Maybe some veining in the flowers too? quiltmonkey
Bekah I love the Irish chain quilt so pretty! On the pansies quilt, you could do Xhatch or you can do McTavishing or meandering leaves. That would be good practice for you.
IBQLTN2
Xhatching behind those pansies would be an excellent choice, very traditional and a soft background for the pansies. your irish chain came out beautiful it is always nice to get one finished. Very lovely!!

ffq-lar
Bekah-babe! That Irish Chain is wonderful!! Your leaves are great! The pansy quilt is very pretty--post pics when you are done so we can applaud!
Boni
Crosshatching is so traditional, and since it is hand turned applique, that's a natural. Other possibilities: stipple and be done, echo Hawaiian style, a medium to small leafy vine meander, make up your own meander a la Sharon Schamber. We'll be watching for finished pictures. Very pretty quilts
meg_marsh
I love the X-H'ing concept - if not that, then echoing. Love the Irish Chain - I have one to go on my Millie as soon as I get to the desert next weekend. Yeah - I get to quilt again!!! Hey Bekah - are you coming down for Innovations?? Bekah
THANK YOU BONNIE. not only did she post pictures for me but chatted with me on the phone to help me pick out batting. I can't believe I am so blessed to have such a group of friends. Thank you for the compliments on the Irish Chain, many of you know how long it has taken me to have any confidence. I am probably going to cross hatch the pansies even though I have been practicing my McTavishing. I am going to try wool batting for the very first time and guess what I get to use for the backing/ yep a sheet. I told them no sheet but that is what they brought me and what they want, it is a pansy sheet. I am always bragging that Alice will handle anything so guess I better prove my words right. I did have to straighten it a little bit but it loaded like a dream. Meg I might make it for one day but probably not for more than that. I will miss you all. glad you get to quilt again. I would be having terrible withdrawals:P
