francine
I tried the titanium coated needles from Superior this week and really like them. Has nayone else tried them?
barbm
Penelope, are you using these needles on a DSM? Or on a longarm? The Titanium needles from Superior are being sold for HOME machines only, not for the longarms. I've been told (but can't remember by who, so can't give proper credit) that when (not if - all brands of needles will break at some time) the titanium needles break, they break much higher up the shaft than our other needles. This longer piece then falls into the hook area, causing a lot more damage than if it was just the tip of the needle. Please be sure to do your homework on these needles - wouldn't want you to wind up with major damage on your baby!
srichardson
I haven't tried the Superior brand needles but I have had an issue with titanium needles. I have found that they are more likely to bend than to break. With regular DSM needles it is obvious when they break, with the titanium needles it is less obvious that they have bent. I had to have an expensive repair on my Bernina that was caused by a slightly bent needle. I would much rather have the ones that break than the variety that bend even if they don't last as long. Bonnie
I used them in the old ULTII without any trouble either...I got two packs and have only used one needle so far, it has quilted about 7 lap sized quilts and is still just as sharp. AnnHenry
The titanium needles work better on my Gammill than any other needles I have used.

lisalnewman
I took a class with Dr. Bob last year at Innovations (it was very informative), where he taught us about the Titanium needles. Bob discused the use of the Titanium needles with Amy from APQS and if I remember correctly he said that they could be used in the Gammil, A1, Nolting (and I am sure a few others) but not the APQS due to the timing. Apparently the Singer MR needle sizing does not convert to the Sans sizing exactly and machine timing requires "exact" adjustments. Dr. Bob said that he did know several APQS users that were using the Titanium needles without problems but for "safety" he stated that he would not reccomend their use on APQS machines. Superior is such a great company that I am sure they will answer any questions you may have better than I can. The class I took was also a year ago and they could have changed the needles in that period of time also. Amy would probably be able to answer your questions regarding which needles are best to use as she is much more qualified than I am. Good luck, Lisa
