LFQuilts
Do we have any forum members in New Zealand? It sounds like a serious quake has hit there. I hope that all are well. Lynn

DB
Does the other Lynn live in New Zealand or Australia? I know someone on here is from the Christchurch area but at the moment I'm pulling a blank. I hope everyone is ok. Dianne
Susanne.Hughes
It was a big one, but no deaths just injuries but none seriously. Lots of damage. I included a link to the Sydney Morning Herald which has further links embedded in the article for anyone who is interested. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/world/strong-earthquake-leaves-nz-trembling/story-e6frf7lf-1225914069084 Cheers,
Busy Quilting
This Lyn lives in Australia, but a Piece of the World's Biggest Hexagon Quilt was taken to New Zealand last week to be raffled to raise money for a Men's Shed. I think it was going to the Christchurch area, so will have to catch up with some girls from LQS to find out how their families are. Lyn
DB
OK Lyn, It was you I was thinking of. I'm glad you're safe. But I know someone from that area is on this chat. I think I mailed 1930's fabric out that way for a swap we did a year or two ago. Some packages went to Australia but I think I sent something to Christchurch. Von Roberts
Thank you everyone for your concern. I do not live in the Christchurch or the surrounding area where most of the damage is but 300 kms away. However I do have three sisters and a brother with MS so was of course concerned for them all. All had damage to their houses and property but were not hurt which was a huge relief. We didn't feel the tremor but others in our town did. It is indeed a miracle that nobody was killed and had it happened earlier in the evening or latter this morning many would have been injured or killed. At 4 35am most folk were in bed. It certainly brings home to one how fragile life is on this planet. Yvonne
