seakitten
My bobbin winder suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. No burning smell. The problem does NOT seem to be the fuse. Any ideas? Meanwhile, can you thread the bobbins with a DSM? I'm on a deadline here. This is all Amy's fault for going to Vegas!
BethDurand
Do you have a turbo winder or side winder? You should be able to wind bobbins on your DSM if they fit. It doesn't work on mine, but I know of other people who can do it. Deadlines will cause a break down anytime, don't they?

barbm
Catherine, is Hitomi anywhere close to you? Can you use her bobbin winder? Or if you need to be close to home, and the bobbins don't wind properly on your DSM, is there someone with a different brand of DSM you could try for winding bobbins? Good luck!! seakitten
thanks Barb; Hitomi is not that close, although I could go by her place tomorrow if necessary, but I want to get mine fixed. They are kind of expensive & this is not that old (3 yrs). Do you think a DSM repair guy could fix it? Can you fix it?
ffq-lar
Find a local handyman who works on small electric motors. He should be able to check connections and see what you need. If there was no indication of a problem--like you said, a smell or cutting out of the motor, I bet your motor is OK and there may be something loose. Good luck! barbm
Catherine, I can take a look at it when I come over - is it just 7½ weeks from now??? But I've not had to do much to the turbo winders, so they are unknown territory to me. Hopefully you'll get by with winding on a DSM for now, and then get proper advice from Dawn or Amy (once her feet are back on the ground! ) next week. Call me if there's anything I can do. DawnCavanaugh
Catherine, Does the motor turn at all? double check both the fuse and the outlet it is plugged into. I can send you some troubleshooting documents when I get to the office tomorrow:)
sammi357
test the outlet by plugging in a lamp to see if it works. Also, check to see if there are any GFI's tripped.

Stagecl
I can wind APQS bobbins on my Pfaff 1222E with no problems. I can go the reverse way too. Thank goodness because my Pfaff stopped working until I got it fixed.
CrazyAboutQuilting
Catherine, I wind all of my Lenni bobbins with my Bernina 730 and it does a great job, very nice and consistent. I have the little sidewinder thingy that came with Lenni but have never been able to get nicely wound bobbins so I never use it.
RitaR
I can wind apqs on my Wizzard or the one Brother, not on the viking. Good Luck.
