KerriM
I would like some suggestions how to quilt this? It's for me, so no pressure to please a customer. I was thinking about a pantograph of christmas lights or holly leaves and berries. Or maybe doing a design in all the log cabin squares or half squares but some of the colors spill into the next square. I have Intelliquilter to do this so any thoughts? Also, should I use monofilliment thread so it doesn't distract from the wreath design of the quilt? Thanks.
quiltjunkie
No Picture showing and without seeing it I will answer the thread question, if it's your quilt and you want to use mono go ahead, if it's a customers I would so NO WAY, if someone quilted my quilt with mono (other than SID) I would probably shoot them...since I refer to it as fishing line.. Primitive1
Kerri, I would definately do meandering feathers in the white background...have to think about the other areas though....
Neher-in-law5
My preference is to treat the green as a unit design, the white separate from the tan, They could all be feathers or whatever you like. That is a WOW quilt, sure was my reaction to it as it appeared on my screen.
LadyLake
I like the Christmas lights panto idea. Are you interested in custom ideas or would you prefer all-over ideas?
KerriM
I wouldn't mind custom if I found designs that would work with the pattern. These log cabin halves are odd shaped. Some colors are more than half of the square instead of an even half.
LadyLake
I could see stars quilted into the gold areas, an angel in each white corner area, the red bow quilted as a bow shape, bright variegated multi-color thread used for Christmas tree lights on the wreath, and then formal feathers in the remaining background. KerriM
Joan, those are great ideas. I love the angels in the corners. I never thought of that. I might do some type of feathers in the white background. I don't do good feathers freehand, so I hope I can find something to work with Intelliquilter to fit in there. Thanks for the ideas. Sheri Butler
Kerry, in the green Wreath, what about some "pine needle" freehand stitching? You go up the stem come back down one side filling in the needles and tiny branches , go up the other side filling in little branches w/needles, when you get to the top, you repeat in another direction, etc. and you keep meandering throughout, or all around until all of the wreath is quilted. Busy Quilting
Before reading Joans comments I had thought of holly leaves in the green, Christmas ornaments in the gold and angels and snowflakes in the white areas. Lyn
