witha'K'quilting
What comes to mind when you hear swirls and stars? I have a quilt to do...and she wants this. Thanks.
Quilting Heidi
Mmmm two things come to mind for me. Either a swirly with a star at the end or a star that has concentric stars going into the middle. Be sure to post whatever you come up with. witha'K'quilting
I guess I wrote this wrong...it should have been swirls and stars. I am picturing sort of a loopy meander with stars...only adding swirls instead of loops. Not sure though. I am having a hard time drawing it out. Quilting Heidi
That would be a hard combination! I'd really have to stop and think about it.

witha'K'quilting
Thanks meg...that may give me something to build on. I am thinking of a regular quick 5 pointed star. This is going to be a difficult combination I am afraid.
meg
how about going across with a very loose star meander then going across again and filling in the spaces with swirls? if you marked where you will star and where you will swirl, it would probably work out. witha'K'quilting
Hey meg...thats a great idea! I think I could do that. Thanks
Primitive1
The first thing I thought of was the CL Milky Way boards, I got them and have used them once and it is just that, swirls and stars and looks great!
HeatherH
I also think of Circle Lord "Milky Way" template/ boards. This is perfect for kids, one client wanted it for a Christmas quilt and looks great. Check out circle Lord web page. Good Luck,

Sheri Butler
I've done it, where you meander with loops, then in place of a loop, you would quilt out a 5 pt star., then continue with some more loops, add a star, etc.
witha'K'quilting
Thanks ladies for the ideas. I am going to quilt the stars in an overall fashion, then go back and quilt the spirals to fill the space. I practiced yesterday, and liked the look of it. This lady comes to me because my work is freehand and different from other designs out there. She could use a lady with a computerized system and another with groovy boards...but she uses me. I am thankful.
JustSewSimple
I did this exact thing a few quilts back. I used a star cookie cutter and marked stars all over here and there. Then I just quilted loopie loops until I got to a star, joined it and started loopies again. It was fun.
