Hockeyrabbit
Hi- I see that R and S design boards are having a sale on their site..I am really new to LAQ and was wondering what pattern boards you find to be essential/versatile?? Thanks, JC
KathG
R and S boards are really nice and reasonably priced. One design that people really seem to like is the Swirls, the Baptist fan and the Clamshells are another two popular ones for traditional quilts. Patrica Ritter designer boards are also great. Just so many to choose from.
Lib
JC, I use Circle Lord or Urban Elementz boards. The ones I seem to use the most are the CL's Rope, Sakura and Cosmus. Lib
ffq-lar
Just an FYI--all of Patricia Ritter's Urban Elementz boards are made by R&S. She gets the order on her site, shoots it to Ron Moorehead who makes and ships them. Eliminate the middle man (woman) and order from R&S. I love the R&S clamshells. cblevins
Since I am not very good at feathers yet, I LOVE "bountiful feathers"! I also use" hoops" a lot. I have quite a few R & S boards and use them all. You can't go wrong with them. They have super customer service too.
BethDurand
I couldn't live without my swirls, and "Fold" from R&S is a great one too. If only money and storage weren't such an issue, I'd get them all!
meg
if it were me, which it will be soon, i would get the baptist fan and clam shell. which clam shell is up to you. i think i like the one with the more oriental look option - it costs more but i think it might be worth it cause it can look ike a completely different design. BF and CS are 2 designs that are VERY HARD to freehand.
Busy Quilting
Swirls, Baptist fans, Hoops and Ripples. I really like the possibilites of using Ripples in different ways. Think I may also try off setting and overlapping the clamshells at some stage on a table runner to explore its potential as well.
Sandra Darlington
I bought several brands of the long boards based on my curiosity, based on sales, and based on designs. I have to say that my Circle Lord boards are my absolute favorite! I rarely use the other ones after trying them a few times.
RitaR
I have the Quiltazois and use their boards and those from R & S. Love them all.. there is a learnign curve when applied to Himself, it was just staying on the same side of the grooves. I also like the thousands of patterns on the basic QZ and the cams to give even more patterns. All have suggestions, and can be used in another way, if you can come up wit. h one
