peglu
My machine is broke! I was oiling the bobbin area and my rag got caught in the machine. I got it out, but my machine won't turn on now. I really need some help. I called APQS and am waiting for a call back. Anything I can try while I wait. I'm in somewhat of a panic here. doodlebug
it sounds like you blew your fuse. below where the power cord plugs into the machine is a drawer. pull that out and replace the fuse. should have an extra one in there.
PattyJo
Peg, did you look at the fuse? Could have popped the fuse when the rag got stuck.
peglu
Ok, any tips on getting that 'drawer' open. I have 2 bloody knuckles from trying.
doodlebug
try using the end of a t-pin. also, you haveto take the power cord out of the machine and there's a little "groove" in the top of the drawer. use the pin to help pull it out. doodlebug
PEGLU- don't forget to buy a new fuse next time you're near a radio shack. its a 6.3 Amp Slow Blow. nothing like blowing a fuse late at night when you have a deadline and everything closed. Quilting Heidi
Peg, I'm sure you blew a fuse. Rita's hubby just did this to Penny. They got Penny up and running pretty quickly. You might want to U2U her.
quiltmonkey
Oh I am sure it is a fuse. :o Oh goodness! :o I try to be very careful and keep rags and paper towels away from the moving bobbin assembly. I hope I never do this. I hope you are up and running again in no time.
peglu
Ok all. It was indeed the fuse. A strong lesson learned. No rags near the bobbing assembly when machine is on! Will never do that again. Thanks for the help. Nothing now a few band-aids won't fix . Thanks for the T pin tip. It worked great.
meg_marsh
Peggy - I did that when I first got Miss Ribbit (her final name & now I just have to find a very cute frog to put on top in a place of glory) ....... luckily I didn't blow the fuse - also learned a good lesson. I will have to remember the T pin tip.
Hollyrw
*Makes note to find the fuse draw BEFORE an emergency happens* Thanks for bringing this up. I keep forgetting to familiarize myself with that fuse drawer. Holly
barbm
That little drawer is a real PAIN to get out, isn't it? But you're right, Holly - best to figure it out BEFORE you need it!
BethDurand
I blew my first fuse a few months ago. Freaked me out too, but I knew that the answers would be here. And yes, the next time I went by a Radio Shack I pulled in a got a little bag of about 4-6 fuses. Hopefully that will be a lifetime supply. Now, what other things should we have on hand at all times? I had to make a run out for emery cloth yesterday. Anything else other people can think of that you wished you'd had on hand, but didn't? RitaR
Peg, Holy cow, have you been watching my hubby, and taking lessons from him. Glad it was only a fuse.. he did end up having to retime a bit.. and listen to me,, which I think was the worst thing.. I really bellowed.. no screaching about it. A screw to hold the needle would be a good idea, a couple extra bobbin casings, several little blue spring bobbiedealies to go in the bobbin, emry cloth for sure.. won't think about light bulbs for the Lenni.. I am afraid to ask.. and what else to have on hand??? Patience, which I am short on right now. RitaR
