kreacher
So the local QS has some fabrics on sale for $1 per yd. There is now about 220 yds of fabric on our dining room table. Is that goofy?
Persephannie
It sounds like you are a normal quilter to me! I wish I could find QS quality fabric for $1.00/yd. You are one lucky gal! (Of coure I assume that you are a girl)

dawnlam
I came across a sale that was 80% off and ended up with just about 100 yds my girls were shopping with me and thought it was cool to save over $700.00 Fairly new to the long arm but have tons of tops done and just knew i could use some "cheap" backs (less costly but still good quality) I think you got a steal have fun with it all dawn

quiltmonkey
No... You are not goofy at all. You got a great deal on some quality fabric! $1.00 per yard you can't go wrong.
kellysuequilter
Nope not goofy. Do we get to see a picture of your haul?
mrsbishwit
I would look at this as being a wise investment!
ffq-lar
I always remind people who comment on the size of someone's stash that all that fabric makes great insulation. Store it on an outside wall and go with that explanation!
Boni
It's not just insulation from the cold and heat outside, it's insulation that cuts sound waves too. You know what it's like to walk through an empty room with no carpet, and then in a room with carpet, curtains, and furniture--well, I wonder if you could even get a decibel reading in a sewing room filled with fabric?:P:P
kreacher
Can't muster up a picture right now but it is about 220 yds on 49 bolts. Standing on end the haul runs about the length of a bunk bed.

Just Sew Simple
Goofy, not at all!! When you tire of using it for quilt tops, use it for quilt backs. Actually I did something similar. When our LQS had a $1.00 sale I bought neutrals just to use as backs! Quality fabric for a steal, can't beat it!!! alcote
Goofy never goes with anyone who buys that much fabric at $1 yd. My wife and I own a large quilt store in Niagara Falls,Ontario, Canada and if we could find anything near $1 a yd.....RETAIL!, we would think we went to heaven. Fabric is so expensive in Canada, (our cost is 6.50-8.00 per m, which is 39 inches, so we have to sell it for at least double. That's 13-16$ per m! I always tell my wife that when we decide to give up the store, we are taking 2m of every fabric with us for our own use. It would kill me to pay that much for fabric, especially at another store! QuiltFaerie
And remember, fabric doesn't have a shelf live. Don't you like how we all helped you justify this purchase?
