SueD got a reaction from dbams in 2nd Floor location for machine
When your carriage/machine moves, the larger wheels make the smaller/rubbery encoder wheels turn.  The encoder wheels tell the machine head (through the cables) how fast the machine is moving which tells the machine how fast to move the needle up and down.
Look in your manual and check that all your encoder cables are firmly connected in the right slots.  If those aren't connected, then the machine wouldn't get the "message" that it's moving and should make stitches.
Check that your encoder wheels are properly adjusted and making good contact with the head/carriage wheels.  If you have a bliss frame, there's only one encoder wheel.
Other than that, you may need to call APQS unless someone else here has any other suggestions.

When you say it won't "run at all", what does that mean?  Does it have power?  Have you checked the fuse(s)?
Have you checked all the cable connections?  If you happened to unplug them, make sure you have them all reconnected correctly.  It's possible to get them switched around.
What is your stitch length set at?  If you've turned it as low as it will go, the machine won't sew.  Increase it a bit.
Does it work without the stitch regulator on?
Regarding the vibration/bounce in manual mode, did that happen at multiple speeds or just one particular speed?  The motors can have a harmonic vibration at a certain speed and may not vibrate as much if you change the motor speed.
We can help you troubleshoot this, but need more information as to what it is or isn't doing as well as what changes, if any, you made to the machine other than turning the SR on.

Here is a couple of APQS YouTube videos on the adjustment.  The first is for LED machines and the other is for the fluorescent light machines.

    Is your frame square?
Did you install the carriage correctly on the frame?  When I put my carriage on, I tilt the back end up because there's a lip on the front that needs to go underneath an edge on the table.
Can you post some pics of where the carriage sits on the bliss rails?

We had a forced reno and had to replace ceiling tiles in our family room which houses my Lucey longarm quilter. We replaced my fluorescent lighting with 5000K LED Wafer Downlights. They are awesome. I have 8  placed in two rows of 4.
    Good for my aging eyes.

Here's an APQS video on using invisible threads.  I'd try a 3.5 needle.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-M_dBl1iNM

Honestly, you’d think with the price of these machines, they’d include that bobbin winder with all of them, not just the ‘big ones’.

I've thought about quilting for others as sort of a money-making hobby.  Not a full time schedule but just to generate some fun money.  Then I hear horror stories like this and think that I don't need that kind of drama dragging down my fun.  But maybe the drama is of our own making by feeling like we can't turn down potential customers.

Hot Mess is right! Why is it so hard to set boundaries when we are inately generous? Eighty is not that old if she's active enough to sew a top every month! Explain to her that the pet hair has become a problem---that the hair/dander transfers to your leaders/clothes/area and while you aren't allergic, you may have others you quilt for who are. If she can't clean them up to remove the hair and the smell (yuck!) (or have a friend do that for her) you gently and reluctantly tell her you will need to stop quilting for her. This is absolutely appropriate and I guess I'm not kind enough to continue doing something that makes me miserable every month when she has some control over the issues.  Bless her, of course, for still having the passion for piecing. But your time and talent are your own to manage and you should not have to do so many extra tasks to make her quilt presentable when she doesn't recognize the issues and has no incentive to help. Does she have a close friend that you can bring into the mix---who can be the go-between for suggestions and boundaries? Sorry if this seems harsh, but I'm also "old" and would like to spend my longarming time stitching and not fixing someone elses careless piecing and smelly, hairy tops.

For a long stitch you can also turn off the stitch regulator, turn the speed down  and control the stitch length by how fast you move the machine.  I doubt you can get your Millie to do one stitch per inch that way but you could probably get decent results around three stitches per inch.

Duffie - you may need to look for a different machine.  This listing is from 3 years ago and the seller hasn't logged in to this forum since Apr 2019.  You can see this by clicking on a user's name.  Good luck in your machine search.

Terry - if you are actually listing the machine for sale here, you will probably get more interest if you include the following:
Photos of your actual machine (not stock photos) Your location and any shipping options (do you have the original box for shipping?) Accessories or other items included with the machine - table, bobbins, needles, thread, etc. Asking price   Good luck with your sale.

SueD, I added to my handlebar a very small pin cushion that was made from a screw-on cap and has an elastic band that fits a finger. It's perfect, and I can slip my seam ripper under the elastic, so that's pretty handy now, too.

If you're buying used, is any of this included?  You can check the APQS store for these types of supplies.  There is only 1 type of needle that should be used in the machine but it is available in different sizes.  If you're going to order some supplies from APQS, I'd suggest these:
Bobbins - L or M aluminum depending upon your machine.
Bobbin Case - it's nice to have a spare or two - the L ones are much cheaper than M
    Needles - Groz Beckert 134MR  - I mostly use 3.5 and 4.0 sizes.
Pigtail thread guides - these can get grooves worn in them from the thread - they're $1.50 each so it's good to have spares
Threads - any quality thread should work in your machine - Glide and Superior are popular brands but it also depends on the look you want for your quilt.  Glide is shiny and reflects light, Superior So Fine has a more matte finish.
Other handy items to have (purchased elsewhere) - centering measuring tape, cheap expandable curtain rods (place under the clamp straps to lift the clamps when machine gets close to the edge), magnetic bowl for pins (try Harbor Freight store), LED flashlight (for looking at bottom of quilt or in the bobbin area, again Harbor Freight), screwdrivers for maintenance (most of the machine parts are phillips head, but also a small one for bobbin case adjustments).
    Good luck with your machine!

This is what I do. I have a 2x6 piece of quilt sandwich I use. I put the one fabric end on back bar and use a magnetic bar I got from harbor freight. Then bring the other end over the front take up bar. You can use  clips or bar  to hold in place but I usually just hold it by leaning against the fabric. Then I can move my machine onto the sandwich and work with my stitching adjustment. Most of my quilts use the same batting. The sample quilt is easily removed or put back on when needed. Then go back to quilting the real one. Just an idea have also stitched on side like mentioned above.

Update - after multiple attempts at resolving at home, I made arrangements to take the head to a dealer about an hour away.  They have rental machines and had several tables set up.  We put my machine on their table and behaved the same.  We messed around with it for about an hour and then did a video chat with APQS.  They said they would look at that machine if I wanted to send it in, which I did.  They told me it had an "abnormal vibration" (hallelujah - I was right ) and needed to replace the top shaft in the machine.  She said it was a rare issue.  She had multiple people test the machine but didn't tell them what was wrong and they immediately noticed a problem.  It'll be on the UPS truck later today and hopefully at my house on Friday.
