You might need to go even larger on the needle to accommodate the heavier cotton thread. That may make a huge difference. And if you have Sewer's Aid, slather it on the cone of King Tut - it may be dried out and a little brittle.

You might be getting eyelashes on the back from lint under the tension finger on the bobbin case.  Have you cleaned under there?

Make sure that the lock nut on your mounting rod is tight, too - that's what keeps that rod from shifting from vibration.

I agree with loosening the backing tension.  Quilt top too.  I tend to be a "bounce a quarter off" the quilt sandwich, but someone once posted that your machine head should look like a little critter crawling around under your quilt.  Sure enough, I was having some funky top "loops" while quilting yesterday.  Every time I'd loosen up the backing tension they'd go away.  Then I'd move the quilt, tighten it down again and the loop was back.  It seems that I am a slow learner.

Thanks for taking my call and easing my mind, Barb. It's good to know there is a lil 'play' in the lift. NOW, I think I can continue with the setup. You rock!

Thank you everyone.  Someone was kind enough to send me a manual via email.  I tried both cd's in two different computers with only partial luck, one would open partially.  Up and running now

Valerie, both the Spool Holder and the Cone Holder are mounted with double-stick adhesive - the screws attach the fixture to its metal base.  That way you can remove the holder and leave the metal base still attached.

Yes, that's definitely for "cones" rather than "spools"!!  Most users mount the Vertical Cone Holder just behind the Laser Post on the top of their Millie.  It will be interesting to see if those who use this regularly chime in with their "sweet spot" placement.

Valerie, do you have the Horizontal Spool Holder or the Vertical Cone Holder?  They're two entirely different things, hold different kinds of threads and are mounted in different spots.

All 25 packages are in the mail and should arrive at their various destinations in the next few days! And if anyone needs one more set of blocks, I wound up with more than I need. Just let me know if you need one more set...

I now have 50 stacks of 5" squares on my cutting board - now to package them all back up and send them out!  I'm hoping to get them all in the mail tomorrow, but we'll see.....

My thanks to those ladies who cut 50 squares of one fabric, instead of using up your stash (10 of this, 20 of that...) - you made it a lot easier!  But those ladies that contributed an assortment of fabrics, we made it work, and I'm very thankful that you gave me pairs of squares, so that we can provide matches for those who want them.

For those of you who sent along tokens of thanks, you're so very welcome!  It has been Christmas for me since this all started, watching the packages pile up.  Now I get to return the favor.

Oh, and one more thing: in each of your packets, you'll find a couple of extra squares.  When I was looking for fabric last week, I ran across some with "Clifford, the Big Red Dog."  I was going to cut him down to 5" but just couldn't do it. So you each have one pair of matching (larger than 5") squares featuring Clifford, as my gift to you!!
