Bekah
oh my goodness I just marked all over a sashing, light blue, with a wide black permanent marker. I know there is a thread on here on how to remove it but I cannot get it to come up in a search. this is one of 7 wallquilts using great grandmother's hankies. stupid me put the milar on the quilt to audition patterns. Sheri Butler
Oh Bekah, im so sorry. That's why I NEVER let a permenant marker into my quilting studio! Good luck with your search. I don't remember anything about getting permenant out. I'm just cringing for you my dear!

witha'K'quilting
If it doesn't come out, and I hope it does, can you remove the sashing and replace it with another piece? Maybe this is stating the obvious...and that won't work in this case. Wishing you the best.
Quilting Heidi
Wow that could make a girl cry! Sorry. I would think your best bet is the hairspray. Good luck!
SandraC
I think Kristina is on to something. Instead of trying to get it out, try to fix it another way...how about an appropriate applique...heart, flower,etc....this is what I would probably do if I couldn't replace that piecing. KathyA
They sell a product called OPPS in the paint aisle of the hardware store or WalMart. That is suppose to get sharpie out. Good Luck.
JoleneK
Is this your quilt top or a customer? If it is yours I would do as Kristina suggested and replace the border. How large an area are you talking about?
Dar
I'm curious how you resolved this. Has the hair spray trick worked? Please let us know. Thanks
JustSewSimple
I think I'll get some oops just to have it around for emergencies! I had never heard of it before,
GramieSnooks
Bekah, I would suggest that first thing Monday morning call the school distict janitorial section and ask them what they use. Or call a janitoral supply business. We had a can of stuff in our classroom and it would take permanent marker right off. Unfortuneately, I don't remember the name of it. PattyJo
Bekah - did you find a solution? We may all need to know this at one time or another.......Let us know. I'm so sorry that you had to find out this way though. Take care:(
Chocoholic
I used Grandmother's Spot Remover when this happened to me. Well, not quilte the same, but the same end result, permanent marker on the quilt. I was marking the quilt for square and grabbed the wrong marker and the ruler moved and I marked into the quilt. newellyn
I used Sew Clean when I used a permanent purple pen when I thought I had an air soluble pen. It all came out beautifully.
Bekah
thanks for all your support. I have tried without success the following: Grandma's Spot Remover Hairspray Rubbing alcohol mechanic's hand soap the stuff Pam Clark uses tears and prayers All I have succeded in doing is making the material a different color. this is a customer quilt and actualy it is one of 7 wall hangings, all of which I have mounted on the same backing and am quilting like a quilt, if that makes sense they are all finished but this one. I have not been able to reach the customer. I am going to try a last resort of coloing the strip and quilting along the line to see if will kind of disappear. so lesson learned, NO permanent markers allowed.
