Jabaro Designs
This is my second post as my first post was incorrectly placed (I think) so I hope I am doing this one right. If I've messed up again, please let me know. Hello, I am purchasing a Millie and would like to know your thoughts on adding the power advance feature to my order. How hard is it to turn the rollers? I've only used power advance machines is why I'm asking the question. Is it worth the $1300 or so that it costs? Also, I've been reading here about the Edgerider wheels. Is this something that would help a beginner or should I just stick with and learn on the wheels that come with it? I believe I have time to change my order as it hasn't shipped -- the room is in the process of being redone to accommodate it. Thank you for any comments. (I'll check back later as I'm going to be leaving shortly.) Barb
Bonnie
I don't have fabric advance on my old old machine...and I SO WISH I DID....and if I could I would in a New York Minute put it on.....
Mary Beth
I have it, and I think I'm glad I do...never been without so I don't know. Edgeriders...those that have them swear by them...It is not something you would need right now, but once you get going, you may want to consider them. jmcclannan
My Lenni did not, of course, have the power advance but I got it on my Millie and I wonder how I ever lived without it. You'll save a lot of time and energy with it.
Jabaro Designs
Thanks for your replies Bonnie, Mary, and Julie. I will check back later for additional comments. Thank you all! Barb
kimmiequilts
I have the auto advance and wouldn't do without it. Love to be able to roll back and forth on quilts rather than having to turn them. The wheels that came with my Mille 4 years ago were great, they use the edgeriders to replace the old brown wheels mostly, from what I've read. They may be good when you need to replace yours after wearing them out!
Sparkle
Get it! In fact don't spare any extras you can afford. EdgeRider Wheels. Definitely worth it!
Ferret
It's the only bell or whistle I wish I had. Sorry looks like another vote for getting it. Ferret
LauraJ
It's one of the main reasons I went with APQS. I've found that even in my "newbie" state I do go back and forth to do some quilting. If you can - GET IT!
mswings
I agree with Laura and the rest. I LOVE the power advance. I had an old handy quilter and it took a lot of time rolling the rollers. I highly recommend the power advance. I'm not sure about the edge riders. I don't think you need to invest in those until you need to replace the factory ones. My new Millie's wheels are just fine. newellyn
Power advance was one of the main reasons I bought the Millennium. There is no way I would want to crank handles all day. Mine came as standard equipment and I am really sorry that has gone away. Try and negotiate. Some dealers or shows may offer it packaged.
Stagecl
I like my power advance. I LOVE my edgeriders. I have been quilting for 5 years and wish I had put them on when I first got my machine. If you can afford edgriders...I say do it.
Jabaro Designs
I just returned home and had to check for any additional responses. Thank you so much everyone. It sounds like power advance is something I should definitely get, so will. Seems like the jury is still out on the edgerider wheels as far as buying them now versus when wheels need replacing. Need to run again but will be back later this evening. Thank you. Barb
rcck00
Barb, I agree whole-heartedly about the power advance. My other 'can't-live-without' feature is the hydraulic lift. Essential for me! Good luck,
Quilting Heidi
My most favorite thing about my machine (well ok one of them) is the power advance! I didn't used to have them on my old machine and boy do I just love them! makes rolling just a breeze and so worth the money!
quiltlover03
Hi Barb, you are buying a Cadillac, go with the power advance. My neighbor has an older Ultimate with the old style table and the ratchet type rollers. What a pain. I love the way I push the pedal after I release the break, and she just moves, all 3 rollers! Not one at a time.
Jabaro Designs
Thank you to everyone. I appreciate the advice. Hello Monika! Hope all is well with you. Barb
Guest Linda S
The power advance rocks. I'm also a big fan of hydraulics. When you've been quilting for hours, it makes all the difference if you can raise or lower the table a bit. Linda
Bekah
If I could reorder again I would certainly add the hydraulic lift. not sure about the edgerider wheels but everyone loves them who has them and when I purchased my Millie she came with power advance. cannot imagine being without that! meg_marsh
Definitely the power advance!! Also love my edgerider wheels. You could easily put those off till later and see how you handle your machine first.
