Let's be up front!

very interesting Michael. I do think I would prefer to work from the front of the machine.... (and...I would like to spend my money in Canada!;)) but I just paid for my Millenium, so I'm afraid it will be awhile before I buy many accessories. I'm satisfied to wait til you have all the bugs worked out!

Hi Michael - I figured you'de be on the "work from the front" thing pretty soon. Here's my opinion: I use all your templates from the back and just don't have a problem. Personally, I think it's more time consuming to move that stuff around on the top. Don't know if I'm really getting old but the way I look at it: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The CL is so easy to use now that I don't see me changing how I work. (I do have to admit, the "Stylus jumper" thing is great and I do use it some.) Time is money. That's why I bought the CL to begin with. By the way, I just emailed you about the Spiral Thingy that looks like fun. I'm not affil with CL at all but use it all the time. Love things that make my job easier. Good for you that you're keeping up with the "newer products" but I'm sticking with the tried and true.

Micheal

I can see where that would be very helpful to work the stepping templates from the front, I was just playing with the ginko and feather ez and it is a little harder from the back for positioning the needle, etc. I guess the table setup for the Lenni wouldnt lock down over the rollers the same way as the other tables. I know you will figure it out though, I have faith! Great job! It might be able to clamp on my topper though!

Hi! Oooooh yes please!!!

I love the featherz templates but I do have a problem with the backtracking not being exact, I know it is just me as the more I use it the better it gets, but being able to do it from the front would be fantastic!!!

Plus being rather short when I work from the back I can't actually see much of the quilt top over the takeup roller, which doesn't help :)

Thanks!

Susan

I, too, have no problem working from the back for the CL products. The only thing I have been thinking would be nice is to invest in the pushbutton setup for crosshatching. For me this is something I would be interested in working from the front.

I know that there has been a lot of discussion on working from the front and that is probably a personal thing. Maybe this idea is good for someone just about to invest in a system but for people like me who is comfortable with the old way it's not a big issue to continue to work from the back.

Gosh Michael, the more I look at it, the more the long arm for the stylus looks almost exactly like the one Denny developed, and I use on my topper.... Are you two merging now, or did you buy rights to use it, or?? Just curious, well.. OK,, I've a Big Nose today.. and curious.

Hi Rita - I think that making the stylus holder out of metal is an obvious choice for a prototype or actual arm. You have to get from point A to point B somehow. Ford, GM, and Chrysler all pretty much look alike also and are made of metal but I don't think they're going to merge anytime soon.

Hi Michael, I didn't..... ooooops

Hi Carol, I didnt make any reference to MATERIALS USED, I said,

(" the more I look at it, the more the long arm for the stylus looks almost exactly like the one Denny developed, and I use on my topper.... ") one very rough cut piece of metal, nor a nicely smoothed and polished metal, has absolutely NO relationship to cars, or milk jugs or toidy paper. Only another piece of metal, cut almost exactly the same as the one Denny developed is relative here, and was All I mentioned in comparrison. bent the same, fastens etc, etc, etc,

Rita,

I feel that I have to say something in my defense, so I will take what you said and compare it with the two devices.

Rita,

I know that my stylus is crappy looking. Denny really did a neat

job with is product. If I did want a product that was exactly like his, I probably would get him to make it for me. But, I need a different mechanical design.

I hope we can put this to bed now. I don't want this forum to detour away from its purpose. I didn't mean to upset you,

and I apologize, if I did.

Sincerely,

Michael

Hi everybody----Wow!

I will wade in here a bit so we can REALLY put all this to rest.

First, the pic Michael posted of our arm/stylus holder for Topper was the prototype. The final product is more refined, doesn't have the angle in the arm, and is shorter. (Den would chuckle over this photo--it looks so clunky!)

Second--there really is nothing new under the sun. We haven't patented anything, nor could we patent this design. Anyone--including Michael or Roland or Adam from Quiltazoid is welcome to make whatever they want--however they want as long as no laws are broken--and none were.

Third--we don't care. That sounds so arrogant. But we don't. (BTW--thanks to all who emailed me about this--what a wonderful group of mama bears protecting their own!!)

(And Rita--you are the Queen mama bear!)

Den doesn't make the Topper or the rulers to make a lot of money. Neither my quilting nor Den's manufacturing are our main source of income--thank the lord!! That is why the rulers are so inexpensive. No one can make and sell them cheaper than Den--that's why there are no knock-offs out there for the rulers. Den tells people he makes them for his "quilty ladies"!!

Pardon my rambling--what I am trying to say is--not feelings or income were hurt on this end. Michael stole nothing from us--Dennis doesn't care--I love you all. What a great place this is!

Now can we all just get along--to coin a phrase?? :):D:)

Linda AND Denny, Thank you so much for helping us out with this. I use your arms quite a bit (for quilting and long distance hugs) when I'm boogered in the emotions, and well, you read what I printed.

You two are the most generous, loving people I know.. of course I stick up for you. I just wish Michael had replied and explained, and that would have been the end of it.

Sure hope you are enjoying the Innovations, I think thats where you are, and thanks for being so generous and sharing so lovingly.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

God Bless, love you,

RitaR

I've been reading this thread and the Quiltazoid/Circlelord thread with interest this week. I don't have either product but I do have some pattern boards and a stylus on the back. What I've found interesting is that on the other thread, people were talking about how they like working from the front of the machine but in this thread, the CL users are kind of half and half about it.

Personally, I like the idea of stitching from the front where I can see better and I love the accuracy that pattern boards give me. I'm short and seeing over the back bars is difficult. Reaching over the table and the bars to get something aligned is darn near impossible. I spend a lot of time running back and forth. While the exercise is good, the time. . . not so much.

Michael, thanks for your response. I do see the diff now, but I don't think the present pict of your arm was in the other shots. I'm probably wrong.

I am and have been going thru depression, which is NO excuse for accusations.. or bad mouthing.. I just about fell apart though seeing an arm so nearly exact to Denny's.. DuH, wonder why.

If I can ever afford it though, I'll have to go with the spiro, or I'll probably croak before I'm rich enough to get one.

Linda, again Thanks, now ask Denny, Pretty please with big hugs to make me a spirograph and patterns. ROFLMHO... love you both.

RitaR ( so blasted homesick for OR WA, and no way we can possibly move back. I don't think this summers long trip was good for solving that.

Again, Michael and Linda, thanks for answers and responses..
