Zora
Somewhere, I saw clamps that go on your rollers so that you don't have to completely re-pin the quilt if you just want to pop it back on the machine to maybe quilt a missed square or add more quilting in an area. They are like bicycle clamps. Now I can't find the things anywhere or even figure out what they are called. Does anybody know where you can find them, and has anyone used them? DoryJM
I found some on Create for Less and I think Donita Reeve has some on her site as well.
Beachside Quilter
Lynn: I have these "temporary clamps" from Donita Reeve and I love them!! I use them all the time to test my tension, re-load a quilt when I find that I need to fix something, and to "practice" before I start quilting for the day. Love, love, them!! Quilting Heidi
I took the tubes that my batting comes on and cut out 1" strip down the length of it. I cut them into about 24" sections and I can use those to clamp onto the bars. Works great.

quiltlover03
My husband bought a length of PVC pipe at Home depot, cut them into 6 inch lengths, cut about 1 inch out of each with a jig saw and now I have as many as I need for next to nothing. The nice thing is you can cut them as long or as skinny as you want or suits your needs. Total cost? Less than $5.00 and a 30 min job max.
Sharon M
Monika, what a great idea! wish I had seen yours before I bought some! I bet they're great for floating a top
Mercedes
Monika, What size PVC pipe did you use. Looks like an easy way to make clamps - I can do this! Mercedes
quiltlover03
Mercedes, we used 2 " diameter built in vacuum pipe cut it to desired length and then cut a 1.5" section out, but you can make it easily 1.75. And yes, you can do this!
seakitten
Well, it would cost more than that if you had to buy the saw . . .
quiltlover03
You are right, it would be very expensive, that's why you have to option to buy ready made, or make them yourself with a handy hubby and a garage full of tools like I did. I just let people know that they can be made very inexpensively if you have the tools and a handy hubby, or have the tools and are handy yourself...... Mercedes
Well, I would think these could be cut with a simple hacksaw or isn't that the case - I have one of those and used it many times.....Mercedes
