merelling
I know that I will use some feather but what else to do on this??
Primitive1
I would do an all over feathering, but if you want to separate the feathering into diagonal rows, use CC's in the lighter squares...
Quilting Heidi
I was going to suggest the exact same thing as Vicki. You could do the feathers going diagonal and then cc the light squares.
witha'K'quilting
Or you could try a large peacock shell meander. It looks like a feather meander...only with a little extra. Then, cc the light squares.
nora123
I think CC's would look really nice with those feathers. Nora Millennium Washougal WA
LadyLake
One of my all-time favorites is the quilting job done by Darlene Epp on this link: http://www.longarmmachines.com/images/Quilts/R-LogCabinHeartCentre.jpg Adding a few swirls and flowers in with the feathers would add a nice touch. donnavans
What is "cc" and do you know of a place to learn the shortcuts used for longarm quilting? Thanks.
Quilting Heidi
cc stands for continuous curves. There was a thread a while ago on acronyms for longarm lingo. LOL before you know it your will be talking like the rest of us.
Tracey
I'd do terry twists in the light chains and then flowing feathers up and down in the diagonals.
donnavans
I am amazed in what I have learned in 3 months; but still overwhelmed at what I don't know. Is CC (continuous curves) a meander type of stitch? Thanks for the tip on the acronyms. I will search for it.
Quilting Heidi
Donna a continuous curve is a curved line that goes from block to block in an arch shape. You can do a nine-patch continuously very easily. You can do Terry Twists the same way. You could go around almost any shape with a continuous row of curves. The way I remember direction the most is: 1. Go over the ceiling until you hit a wall (top over to 1st intersecting row) 2. Go down the wall / up the wall 3. Go over the ceiling until you hit the wall 4. Down the wall/up the hill 5. repeat as needed until you get to the last side then 6. go down the wall 7 across the floor and back up the wall. You will be where you began. clear as mud? Draw a nine-patch and follow along. If you need an illustration just let me know.
donnavans
I looked up Terry Twists so now I know what they are. Had a class 2 weeks ago with Dawn C. and she explained this. I knew more than I thought just didn't know the lingo. Thanks so much.
