love2qlt4u
"Help Please" This is a table topper, and has 8 points with a sunflower in the center. It is 48 inches from point to point. She said to do anything I want. I'm at a total loss. Her fabric is rather busy, but her backing is light so she can reverse it. Thanks Barbara
JustSewSimple
Well, I sure do love it! What is the name of it? Do you know?
Bonnie
This one is so small I would do it totally on my DSM and the whole thing in the ditch....maybe even with metallic threads...they shine in the ditch when hit by overhead lights.... Quilting Heidi
How wide are the strips? They only look to be about 1". I would SID and fill in every other log with ribbon candy just to add a little dimension.
The Crafty Unicorn
That is so cool. I'm with Heidi, something in the solid strips would be great.
love2qlt4u
I have no idea what its called Sylvia. I'll have to ask her. Heidi, the strips are only 1 inch wide. The sunflower is about 4 inches. This lady does beautiful work on her DSM, but she had no idea what to do with this one either. I'll ask her about the ribbon candy. Thanks for the ideas, Barbara
SKQuilts
I sure would like to know the name of the design etc. Post a picture after so we can see.
Quilting Heidi
Barbara, If she doesn't like the ribbon candy then try another little fill. Bubbles work well too. By quilting every other one that will make the design pop a little more. If she wants something really different you could always just do radiating arcs from the sun flower or even echo the leaves. Just a few different ideas. Good luck.
o2b Quilting
The pattern that I have that looks like the topper is called "Crazy Eight Strip Teaser" Table Topper by "the 3/4 Crazies". Mine is a 2006 copy. Uses 1 1/2" strips. Here is info printed on pattern: Jae's Attic PO Box 3574 Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405 928-453-4040 www.sewwhat-quilting.com Jeanette@sewwhat-quilting.com
tightly wound
I have quilted a couple of these and have just done stitch in the ditch and it looks just fine. But I have also seen it done with an all over design. Since she has a flower in the middle, what about an allover flower pattern?
tightly wound
One more thing--this is a pattern by Ruth Eckersley a long arm quilter from Spokane WA. I have seen it done in holiday fabric and it is adorable. I have made two of them. One was in Valentine fabric with quilted hearts, another, St. Patricks day quilted with shamrocks! Hawaii
How are you at feathering? Swirl in center - 8 radiating half feathers into the point. What a wonderfully fun project!
ckeindl
It is called Strata Star on Ruthann Eckersley website - for $8 you can download the pdf file and make it today! Looks super fun! I'm going to try one! Under "patterns by mail" she has photos of bed quilts with this as the medallion in the center, I don't know if she has a pattern or the instructions to do that?! Thanks for the info everyone. http://ruthsquilting.com/patterns-by-download/
gaildrake
I just recently purchased this pattern and it is not hard at all and the one I saw made up was very nice. and only stitch in the ditch.
love2qlt4u
Thanks for all the suggestions. I won't be quilting this till next week, but lots of ideas to think about. I haven't talked to Marie yet, but it looks like you guys have figured out what the pattern is. It does look very easy to do. Barbara
ckeindl
O.K. now - the finished photos????
Guest Linda S
I'd do an all-over on it to give it some more movement. Something like waterworld or bubbles. I think it has all the straight lines it needs, but that's just me. Linda
