Beachside Quilter
This is a 38" square table topper with "Provence" fabrics. She wants simple quilting. Any ideas?? Thanks!
JustSewSimple
No ideas from me but I must say, you have the cleanest quilting studio I have ever seen! You want to take a trip up here and clean and organize mine?;)
LinneaMarie
I see big feathers in those large triangles. Other than that, my brain is still trying to thaw out!! :P
Beachside Quilter
Nah, Sylvia, it's all in the angle you take the picture from! Linnea, that's why "hot toddies" were invented! Yeah, I saw feathers, too, but what about the middle??? Keep thinking, girls (and guys)! Thanks!!
witha'K'quilting
I see loopy meander allover. Nothing is going to show anyways. Those prints are too busy. Or crosshatching the entire piece. Not as easy though!
PattyJo
I agree with Kristina. the stitching won't show much if at all. Go for the texture. Loopy - squiggly lines, Maybe CH'g in the big corners. If you have a curved arc, maybe curved CH'g. just a few more ideas.
Quilting Heidi
I think depending on the batting you can get something to show up in the big triangles. Cross hatching would be a good choice or any kind of loopy meander would work.
Beachside Quilter
Ok, ladies, all of these ideas sound good. Heidi, I am supplying the batting, so what would you suggest? I have all kinds (just about!) Would like to get this done quickly as I have to start on the King "Trail Mix" in a couple days. Thanks for all of your help!! rlhdesigns
I would divide the big triangle in two ...... then quilt a design in each triangle. or how about all over feathers.... good way to practice & it is fast. Or practice large background fill in each block, making each one different.... that would look good & fast also.

Thanks for all of your help!! Wool or dream puff will show your quilting the most. Hobbs Heirloom is a third option to show quilting but it isn't my fav. witha'K'quilting
I would suggest since this is a table topper...you would want it to lay a flat as possible...so thin batting. Just my thoughts though.
Quilting Heidi
You can kind of trick it. Use a tin batting and use a 1/2 thickness of wool. You can tease the wool apart. Put the wool on top. It won't create a lot of puff but it sure will show the quilting.
Beachside Quilter
Quilting is finished, tomorrow I will apply the binding and mail back to the customer. I used a combination of all of your ideas. Thanks, everyone! Heidi thank you for suggesting 1/2 layer of wool. I used it along with a light Legacy poly. The triangles were wonky and that helped with the fullness. Dell, thank you for the "hog fence" idea for the center; it turned out really cute!! Beachside Quilter
Thanks, Gail, Marlene & Kim! Linnea, it was Dell's idea to make double straight lines off the corners of the brown squares. When I saw what she drew it looked like "hog fence" to me. Maybe there is another way to describe it, but I am a farm girl and to me it is hog fence, LOL! Thanks, it was fun to do. I SID all the borders to help stabilize the wonky triangles. She is a new quilter and this is a Christmas present for her boss.
