Primitive1
I have a favorite little straight ruler that I use most of the time and have noticed today that it is so scratched that I can hardly see through it as I am spacing my lines...(I am sewing with black thread on black fabric).. anyone have any ideas how to remove some of the scratches other than buying a new ruler??? RitaR
will sanding with the jewelers grade of super fine sand paper, cant think of the name of it.. nor can him.. Check first to make sure the markings for the numbers aren't on the side you will need to sand.. Likely sand them off, if they are. Other than that.. you had the solution... LOL I hate it when things like this happens. At one time we had an aluminum yardstick that we all loved,,, as said it was covered with marks and we were getting confused trying to figure out our marks... ended up taking it to the utility tub with a soft cleaning rag and got a bit of hand soap. In talking with the kids during that time, I wiped it well, turned to dry it off and couldn't find the marked side... easily wiped away... still wish we had one like it. Quilting Heidi
I'd try to see if a coat of clear nail polish will fill in the scratches and clear it up. Worth a try.
Kueser
There used to be a product that you could put on glasses to take the scratches out of them. Sure couldn't tell you the name of it but you might try Google.

Guest Linda S
I've been putting some invisigrip on my rulers. Helps me keep them where I want them on the quilt top, and helps to prevent the scratches.
Georgene
Could you run a very fine point permanent marker along the original lines, so you can at least see those well.? Maybe you could use red, since you're quilting on black.
ffq-lar
Home Depot sells a $4 tub of "Acrylic Plastic Scratch Remover" (kinda says it all, huh?) on the shelf above the sheets of acrylic plastic. Den uses it with the rulers we sell if he scratches one. It spritzes on and with lots of rubbing/pressure, the scratch will disappear.
Joyce
Darn Linda you are such a book of knowledge. Keep it up and I'll be moving in. Maybe some of this would rub off on me. Ya in my dreams.
longarmlisa
You can use a buffing wheel. It will take the scratches out. (I have used it to buff the scratches out of stuffed animal eyes!! ) However, it can distort the shape of whatever you are buffing if you leave it in one place for too long!!! Just another suggestion.
