Kywoman
Can anyone recommend a book that teaches how to fit feathers into squares, rectangles, etc.? I have a George so no BSR or computer aided designs. I thought I could do it but I couldn't visualize how to curl the spines in just the right way since my spaces were so huge. I would appreciate any help I can get since I am a newbie. BTW what is cc?

lisae
Darlene Epp's Heirloom Feathers is a really good resource for creating all shapes and sizes of feathers! http://trilliumhousedesigns.danemcoweb.com/shop/product/heirloom-feathers/
Neher-in-law5
What a great question!!! I, also, have George and have not been able to "wrap" my mind around the squares of feathers either. Borders work fine for me, but those others loop pretty funny interesting when I try them. Thanks. Mrs.A
Sharon Schamber's videos have worked well for me. There are some free, abreviated versions on UTube. She offers them for domestic machines (moving the fabric) or longarm (moving the machine). Nancy in Tucson

Primitive1
All excellent suggestions! I am just finishing up a quilt that had 35 blocks that I did feathered wreaths in...lots of good practice for me.... try drawing them until you get comfortable with doing them... LadyLake
My favorite book for quilting feathers into shapes is 'Feathers That Fly' by Lee Cleland. She has many diagrams showing how to slant feathers and where to place spines, etc.
laststitchstudio
Sherry Rodgers-Harrison "Feathers 101" is a wonderful book. She makes it easy to create feathers and has practice sheets in the book that you can us a dry erase on. Taught me how to feather.
LibbyG
I think it's Patsy Thompson, but it's a Thompson for sure that has a DVD on feathers for domestic machines. You might feel more comfortable with that, but all the others are excellent. I love Darlene Epps book because you open it and the designs are there.
