Lizbeth
I want to use the pebbles in my quilt in between some of my rows. When quilting the pebbles, do you have to start and stop in between each one.I am quilting my pieced quilt that I made out of Tula Pink's fabric, Prince Charming. The pattern is Field Study. Did anyone else quilt this pattern, its hard to tell on the pattern the quilting in between the straight lines. Thanks, Lizbeth
srichardson
Lizbeth, You don't need to start and stop on each pebble. You Tube has several videos of pebbles. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=quilting+pebbles I don't have the pattern you are using so I can help you with that I am afraid. Enchanted Quilting
If you have a non regulated stitch mode on your machine...use that. I find it works much better. If you don't, make sure your stitch length is really small so the pebbles look smooth and not bumpy.
Sheagatzi
Lizbeth do you have the link to the pattern? I tried looking for it, but came up with quite a few different ones. I love pebbling!!!
Lizbeth
Angela Walter quilted the quilt, her link is: http://quiltingismytherapy.com/ Its hard to tell on the pattern what design she use. I did email her, she never replied. Thanks everyone for your advice and tips. I have so much to learn. Lizbeth
tmmelonson
I love the look of pebbling too. Finding it takes A LOT of practice - thank heaven for those Youtube videos. Don't be afraid to experiment, I have found there are many different looks one can achieve from varying the sizes, shapes and spacing of those pebbles. Some I like a lot, and others...... well... that's what experimenting is for! LOL
pumpkinpatchquilter
I think you've already got an answer to your question...but thought I'd say no, I rarely stop between each one unless I'm in a tight spot...and in unregulated mode I think they turn out more circley! Primitive1
I use them frequently and just make circles switching back and forth on direction for each one until you have filled the area...they are pretty easy and look very nice but can wear on your hands if you do a lot of them.... Ann Wight
It took me a lot of practice to be able to do pebbles, I turn off my stitch regulator and get a much smoother, rounder pebble. It is much easier if you I use a figure 8 motion backtracking a section of the previous pebble.
GMALKB
I haven't used them on an quilt yet, but was doing some practicing and I think I can do them OK now. Bliss sure helps. I use the Micro Drive handles too. When I first got those, I was a clutz trying to do anything, but now I am finding them easier.............again, the Bliss helps. So glad I got that upgrade!
