mama5
hello to everyone. I have spent hours reading past topics on studios. We are currently buying a house and I will be able to have my own studio. About 400 sq feet. I was wondering about furniture. Does anyone have cabiinets or book shelves? I have rolling carts and such now, but I'd like a quilt shop look. Thanks. Crystal

Hollyrw
When we remodeled our kitchen, I put the old base cabinets in my studio. I also have some plain bookshelves and wardrobe type cabinets that I got at Lowes. It's not really a quilt shop look but I have lots of storage. dixieqwv
I'm in a converted 2 car garage. I had a closet built so my goodies would be out of site. It's 14 ft long, 8 ft high and 42 inches deep .... love love it. Photos at http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/85747021cPypMZ I also just finished reorganizing the closet and room. It took me 7 days/nights .... what a job. http://sandyquilts.blogspot.com/
newellyn
We built my sewing center and cutting table. It is quite large and I love, love it. We used sheets of laminated fiber board and I don't think we spent more than $200 on both pieces. We are not pro woodworkers by any stretch of the imagination but they are just what I wanted. The sewing center is loosely based on a pattern I ordered from Keepsake Quilting. We kind of designed as we went along. Check out pictures on my webshots below if interested. annieb
I just got around to taking pictures of my new-ish quilting studio (it has actually been a couple of years now). I got to design it from scratch when we finished off the old basement. Check it out here: http://www.highplainsquilting.com/quilting_blog.php I love it!!!!!!! Let me know what you think. MtnBarb
I, too, moved from a small bedroom into a converted two car garage. However, I don't have any closet space so we put in lots of lower kitchen cabinets and that where I store everything. Pics of the evolution of my sewing rooms to the new studio are on webshots: http://good-times.webshots.com/album/564099521GdymRB Oops, forgot to enter website on first posting! KerryM
Awhile ago there was thread on here about that, and Darlene Epp gave some very good storage system ideas. I did purchase this system, and for once I can find almost everything I want. Especially what isin my stash. I bought them at Ikea, http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S69867046 Mine were a 5 drawer unit, but exactly the same. I love them!
sewlinzi
Lynda's studio is something else! I can see you are a fan of IKEA! Great light... why does anyone need the rest of the house?! LINZI
ramona-quilter
I have just moved back into my old studio after installing new carpet. I don't have all the photos on my blog yet. But I wanted to say that I want Linzi's backdrop for quilt. That green background is so wonderful. Scotland is so beautiful.
klwheeler
Wow it sounds great! I just finished moving my furniture around in my quilt room and now have it right about where I WANT it for now. Lucky it is mostly on casters and rolls.
