KimDeJong
I am repainting a space in my house for quilt/sewing room. I need paint color suggestions. Four windows in the space which is 26x15. Thanks
MtnBarb
I'd use something soothing but really it's up to you. I painted my room with two colors...white on top and lavendar on the bottom. I wanted something that wouldn't contrast too much with any quilt or top I put up on the walls.
gable428
First of all, before choosing a color, ask yourself what type of feeling do you want to have when you are in that room. My sewing/quilting room is yellow. Nice and cheerful. When I repaint the room, I am going to paint it a green which is a very calming, serene color. kimmiequilts
I used a great tan color called Nantucket, it's cool and blends well with any quilt I have hanging! There are pics on my Webshots.
Sheri Butler
I used a soft suede color, and it goes well with all colors.
PattyJo
I would also use a soft, pastel color (beige, yellow, pink, blue or green). Remember that a strong color will throw off the ability to choose "matching" thread, or fabric because of the reflection of the wall color on everything in the room.! dnice
My quilt room has two floor lenght windows and I get a lot of light. I have a dove gray carpet that was in the room and soft white walls. Since this is on the South west corner of the house I like the natural light and make the most of it. JustSewSimple
Choose carefully, the paint color will affect the colors you see in a quilt or thread.
Beachside Quilter
Hi Kim: My studio walls are white to get the most out of lighting, and to minimize color influence when matching fabrics and thread. I have "daylight" bulbs in my overhead lighting. As I get older I find that I need more light and all of these things help!! Enjoy your new room!! KimDeJong
Thanks to everyone! Now if I can only make up my mind as to which brand/model longarm quilt machine I will get. I have saved $$$$ for a couple years and don't want to pick the wrong machine. I do love test driving them all!
Katydids
Hi Kim. Welcome to the forum and family! Did you receive the packet I sent? I chose a warm yellow for my studio and just love it. It is very cheery and not depressing at all. Looking forward to meeting you in Jax at Quiltfest. Hopefully we'll be able to help you make your decision!!
