DoryJM
Yep, I did it. I was drawing along on my mylar "test the pattern" sheet and drew right off the edge. Lovely BLACK dry erase marker on my WHITE fabric. Notice I said "my." I am so fortunate that it is my quilt that will bear this lasting black mark and not a customers. WHEW!! Any ideas how to remove it...or at least lessen the black to a less noticeable gray??? I'm such a DOPE!!!!
Sue E.
Use rubbing alcohol and gently rub on the black spot. You will probably have to do this multiple times over several days. You can also use hairspray. I've had this happen and it did take awhile, but I can't even find the black mark anymore.
GMALKB
I've used the Grandmothers'Secret Spot Remover. It takes a few attempts, but I got out black permanent marker !
Busy Quilting
Me too... Customer quilt .....I asked for some more fabric and changed out the border. Luckily it was plain fabric. Mine was blue on white and I couldn't get it out.
ffq-lar
I echo the Grandma's Remover mentioned above and I got black gel pen out of white vintage fabric with the Carbona Stain Devils formula for ink.
DoryJM
Is the Grandma's remover in a white bottle with a label and a little grandma on it? I think I've seen it. Walmart???
Beachside Quilter
Is the Grandma's remover in a white bottle with a label and a little grandma on it? I think I've seen it. Walmart??? That's the one, Dory! You can usually find it at JoAnn's, Walmart. I also have used it to get out permanent Pigma signature on quilt block. Good luck! IQuiltToo
I googled it and there are several different ways. Read thru them, but rubbing alcohol was mentioned several times. Hope this helps!
delld
Been there done that. All the above will help get it out!!!
micajah
I would try everything suggested on a scrap piece first, then use the one with the best results on the real quilt.
Gamache
I got ink from a black sharpie permanent marker on white cotton. Grandmothers secret stain remover took it out - patience and some rubbing. Good luck!
sewingpup
I am not sure about black erase marker....but we used to get ball point ink off our nursing uniforms back in the day with rubbing alcohol....I was always getting ink on them from the pens in my pockets....I also used it to get the ink off my brand new car.....that came home with me from the dealers....I think the salesman had an open pen! Yikes! But the ink came off so easily, I really could not make an issue of it Lin
Quilting Heidi
At least you had a silver lining! I hope you get it out.
DoryJM
I knew I could count on you guys!!! Thank you so much. I'm off to get some secret stain remover today and will report back. Of course, that part of my quilt is no rolled, so it will be a few days.
GMALKB
Cheap hairspray also removes ballpoint ink............one time our Music Boosters hosted a theater show and some of the idiot parents let their kids scribble all over the WHITE tablecloths with ball point ink pens ! Someone told us to spray the ink with cheap hairspray, wait a little while and then launder. Everything came out !
IQuiltToo
Dory, hope you have been able to take care of the problem by now!
jbnt9999
did you get it out? I never did and tried everything. some wipe off markers are washable and some are not! Painters tape on edges reminds me. Some mistakes you never forget. Makes my stomach jump just thinking about it.
dpsquilter
I learned the hard way to put painters tape on the edges on the edges of my plexiglass. Only mine was a customer quilt. I thought I would have a heart attack. Fortunately it was black marker on a burgundy border. UNfortunately I NEVER got it out. I tried every thing I could think of and it never came out. Hope you have better luck. I'd love to know about the end result.
