DoryJM
I just saw this on Christine Kane's blog. I've not heard of her before, but what she says about criticism is so true: "Criticism is never about you. It’s always about the person doing the criticizing. That might not help when you’re hurting, but it’s nice to be reminded!"
LFQuilts
Thank you:) The quote is a keeper. Lynn

LadyLake
The quote reminds me of a similar saying: "Those who need love the most are often the ones hardest to love."

dnice
quote]Originally posted by DoryJM "Criticism is never about you. It’s always about the person doing the criticizing. That might not help when you’re hurting, but it’s nice to be reminded!" Thanks for this. I just had my boss in my office and everything subject he had to talk to me about was not is a positive light. This quote made my day. Now I can see that he was saying that he does not communicate early enough and does not involve the right people at the right times. It is not me. DoryJM
This quote really hit home with me too. I have an older sister that loves to criticize and say really mean things. I know its not about me, its about her and her life, but this saying brings that to light even more.
quiltmonkey
I think criticism is not what you say, but how you say it. Unfortunately, some people lack the skills in how to say it. For those people, we need to recieve their criticism considering their failure to communicate appropriately. I try not to criticize. I try to pick my battles wisely. I ask myself the 100 year question "Will it really matter or will anyone even care in 100 years if ____......???" Some things are better left unsaid. Move on and forgetaboutitalready. DoryJM
Exactly!! Plus, I've found out from being married to Dennis, if you pick your battles wisely, you will win. Even when he figures out what I'm doing, he whines, but he generally agrees that I'm right. Gotta love him!!! :D
sammi357
That's priceless. It reminds me of the old 'finger pointing' saw... when one points a finger at someone, there are three more pointing back!
bobbi
Well said Dory!
Quilting Heidi
Good to know and good to remind myself of! I'm probably one of the worst at handling criticism. Isn't it always my fault?
CWBowser
I thought it was because I was so "thin skinned" that I would have my feelings hurt and keep playing the criticism over and over. I like both quotes. Thanks. Charlotte
