gable428
What Bottom Line color for use in the bobbin will go with everything I use on top? I want to buy some prewounds, but don't want to purchase a bunch of colors. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Hollyrw
I use a lot of Cream and Natural White. A dark or medium would be good to have for the darker threads you may use on top. Perhaps a taupe or gray.
ffq-lar
Ditto the Cream and Natural White. I also buy half-gross sizes of Taupe, Silver, and recently Black. I am on my third 72-pack of Taupe--it really does match so many fabric colors. I use it a lot on top as well.
Primitive1
I also find that gray matches alot of things, especially purple which alot of my customers seem to have an affinity for!
lizziesgirl
I use Taupe a lot, seems to blend well.
VictoriaG
I have taupe in prewounds. I use them for practice and some of my own quilts. They blend very well with most backings if it is a busy print. Gray would be my second choice in color. I know I am super picky, maybe you're not. I do not use my pre-wounds for customer quilts. Because I do not like the smallest dot of the top or bottom thread (a different color) to be showing at the point of the stitch. If you go to prewounds. You would find a separate bobbin case just for them to be a good idea. Otherwise you might have to tweak the bobbin case tension every time you switch between pre-wound and "home-wound" bobbins. Finally, an advantage, the pre-wound will hold a tad more thread, so you do not change out as often. vg

quiltmonkey
I have gold tones of bottom line that blend in really well with a lot of things. I also have cones of beige, white, black, taupe and gray. Those are pretty much my BL colors I have in the stash.

MarieBrewer
I bought prewounds from Marahton East out of the east coast. They were at MQS. I think the brand is NEB and they were $45 plus shipping for a gross. They work fantastic. They don't have many colors by the gross but they will get there. You can buy a plastic tube of a dozen colored (lav/white/blk/red whatever) for $4.95 a doz. Ship time was good too.
kennan100
I've several people mention Mother Goose as their goes with anything color. I know one was Mary Beth. I don't know for sure, but I think it's a Superior thread.
Quilting Heidi
Kenna, Mother Goose is actually a Signature color. 459 So fine is about the same color as Mother Goose and I use it all the time. Taupe Bottom line matches it pretty closely. It blends very nicely.

Quilting Heidi
LOL Kenna I didn't even have to go to my studio to look up the number on this one. I had just restocked on it. I use it a lot on my customer quilts!
