peglu
I am currently working on a commissions quilt, and I'm almost done. When I did the applique, I neglected to connect the leaves to the stem. Now I realize it, and Not sure what to do. Here's a picture of the block and my feeble attempt to fix it. Not sure if this will look ok. Maybe if I keep it neat, like the left side? Any other suggestions? Thanks Peggy

o2b Quilting
I think you are on the right track. It looks like something you intended to do from the start of the quilt. Any chance you would want to do the embelishing of the applique in the rose and leaves and stems with a metallic thread to really make it look intentional? peglu
I thought about that, but I'm not sure how I would embellish it. And, I have spent plenty of time on this quilt already. It's time to get 'er done. Thanks for your opinion. Maybe I should use a lighter brown thread instead of green so it doesn't stand out so much?? quietlifeaz
What about "leaving them unconnected" as an "artistic rendition" of leaves.....like you planned it that way all along?
Oma
Use the brown thread and see how you like it. Sounds like a good answer.
Quilting Heidi
Peggy, I'm like you and want them connected. I like what you've done with the thread work, just neaten up the right side like you said and maybe add in a few swirls to make it look like that was your intent. peglu
Better?
Zora
Its hard to see on this small picture. It appears to be a better thread choice for the stems. It connects the leaves to the stems, but doesn't make it all about the thread...more subtle. I like it.
JustSewSimple
Now it looks like it has been there all along. I like it now!
LadyLake
It looks very natural with what you have done--I never would have known that it wasn't your intent in the first place.
ffq-lar
My first thought was a bit of hand-embroidery but your solution is much better! I vote for the brown and wish I could see the quilting better. It looks wonderful!
