doodlebug
i just finished sewing my blocks together from this summer's block swap....i made a couple more blocks to give me 25 blocks. it measures 72inches square right now...i'm stopping at this point to contemplate adding a flying goose row to two ends cause i'm not a fan of square quilts....suggestions? thanks to everyone who made blocks! JustSewSimple
That looks so good! Now I wish i had taken the time to play. I will next time!!!!! I'd just go all the way around with a wild colorful print! thicker sashing strips on top and bottom since you don't like square. I kinda do. s.waits
You could make a few more blocks and add another row to one end, to make it rectangular. I think a border top and bottom from flying geese would add more interest though. Another idea would be to make an applique border to go at the top, sort of like a pillow panel. If you have a Go or studio cutter to cut flower shapes, it wouldn't be hard. I love what you've done so far. Bright and colorful is my favorite! LibbyG
Hey, I see my block!! I don't like square quilts either. Put a rectangle in the middle of the row and take the flying geese off of it to each side. That would make a nice border for a top and bottom of a quilt. Kind of breaks it up. You could make them any size. 6 inches if you want.
Deb2bie
I vote for you do add an applique pillow tuck!!! I think that would really be nice on this particular quilt. It's such a happy looking quilt so far. Flowers would just add to the happy spring/summer feel!!!
LadyLake
Shannon, I think your flying geese idea is a good one. You could also do a checkerboard on each end of the quilt, with the squares being the same size as the center of the puzzle piece blocks.
