chickenscratch
Tad, is there a way when somebody registers that they can be required to put in the serial number of their machine, or something to try to keep the trouble makers out. It is getting embarassing looking at this site and seeing the smut posted, especially if I've got one of my kids looking at the stie wtih me to see quilt pictures and ideas; and then Paris Hilton Nude pops up. It's disgusting.
Jeanette
I understand where you are coming from. But machine SN wouldn\'t work as we have many hopefuls and wannabe owners joining in to learn more. And I don\'t even own an APQS, lol, I own one of those aliens. I used to own/run a couple of sites and short of monitering there isn\'t much can be done. On a regular email list, the owner or moderators often monitor and moderate the first two or three months of new posters which does discourage and even halt these pornuglies that slime their way on here occasionally. Perhaps that would be an option here also.
Farmwife Darlene
I\'ve started looking at the orginating forum before I will open a thread to read it. I\'ve noticed most of this smut is coming from the "Deutschsprachig" forum. Can APQS do something with that? I agree with Teresa and others, I\'d rather not have this junk in my home - even if it is coming in over the internet. Thanks for the help with this. Susanri
maybe we need more monitors to delete the smut
Guest LA
Girls, I am very sorry about this horrid trash! I have alerted Tad with his emergency number. Hang in there with us, APQS is working on it, I promise!
Ruthieq
One of my yahoo groups ask pending members a couple questions before they are approved. (what is a mystery quilt and what is binding)
SherryRogers
Exactly what I have suggested in the past! Perhaps they will listen to you. Once again, keeping an eye on the new members at the bottom of the forum topic page will reveal those less then normal email terrorists. If you click on their profile , you will typically see right away who they really are. When I had the power I deleted and banned them before they spammed us. I hope those that still have that ability keep an eye out and do the same.
PattyJo
It looks like Tad took care of the problem. Thank you Tad.
barbm
It would be nice if, once a source has spammed our site, they are banned from posting here again. I\'ve noticed some of the same names popping up over the course of a day - can\'t we somehow block them by poster\'s name? The issue of blocking aside, thank you, Tad and APQS, for staying on top of this issue as much as possible! Guess the best thing we can do is to be vigilant, report the spams/porn, and not be stupid and click on the links. There\'s soooo much more interesting stuff to read on our site! HeidiKaisand
We are so sorry to have to have you all view the trash e-mails that are making it on to the APQS chat. My understanding is that it\'s all done by computer. We are working hard to figure out how to better control it. In the meantime, please e-mail me directly at heidi@apqs.com and I can delete immediately. Thanks so much for your patience in this situation. barbm
Like Heidi says, when you see a post that\'s obviously trash, don\'t even view it, just send her an e-mail. Bet most of you didn\'t even see the "Paris Hilton" post that was just on here...
Bonnie
Barb....one was removed and three more popped up. Heidi is going to be one busy girl to stay ahead of these people.
RitaR
It would be helpful if they could program it so the moderators could delete the posts and block these brain dead pants players. We can do that on Yahoo. RitaR
PattyJo
I sent a 2nd e-mail to Heidi and she is quick. It\'s gone for now.
SherryRogers
I see our newest member is more then likely a spammer. Hope they ban him before he posts! These new folk REALLY just need to be put on moderate, that way there posts will not be made public! http://www.apqs.com/quiltboard/member.php?action=viewpro&member=tolopoj
SherryRogers
I see wrowlcorn is back as a new member..if they dont ban his ip address we are in for another round of cr_p!
ffq-lar
Tad--is there a way to block registration with a web site addy until that web site is viewed by you and approved for posting? Maybe that extra step would take too much of the smutter\'s time to bother with us? At least they couldn\'t post garbage on the chat until thay were approved. It would mean extra work for you but perhaps you could hand that chore off to a moderator or another volunteer. Just a thought.
bsktsn3cats
Maybe I\'m just naive, but why would someone want to post these things? Are they just trying to shock us? What are they gaining by putting this stuff on here?
chickenscratch
I don \'t know if this will help or not, but most of the other lists I\'ve joined have required a confirmation email and sometimes setting up security type question/answers . Perhaps something like this could be done. If it is being computer generated, then a computer is not going to set up security questions and answers and respond to a confirmation email, I wouldn\'t think. MaryLou5740
I guess I lead a sheltered life...I\'ve never seen Paris naked...or would anyone want too....a scrawny, brainless trumpet that\'s too dumb to get a position, too lazy to get a job, too \'worn-out\' to attract a husband and if it wasn\'t for grandpa\'s money we\'d have no clue who she is....There are alot of words that describe her and just what she is, but can\'t use them on this forum...are these \'benefactors\' doing this just to tick-off a bunch of busy women quilters. It sounds like they are accomplishing that. "Hell hath no fury like a woman ---\'sent porn emails\'...well, changed the words a bit there, but you get the idea.
